I've bought what I think is a retro looking lamp for my MK1 it takes a standard indicator type bulb ba15s, is there a maximum wattage you are allowed to put in? As I've found some pretty high wattage bulbs available ie 80w if I use a LED type.

says 15-36w max, which I assume is based on incandescent ratings, so you'd be looking for an LED equivalent around 18w max

 

I would say definitely best not to use excessively bright lights anyway you won't make yourself any more visible all it will do is p.ss off everyone behind you every time you press the brake pedal

 

not to always be that one that comes along and moans about bright lights but it is a real bug bear of mine, it's just unnecessary beyond a point (in some cases just blatantly inconsiderate)

24w possibly slightly off the brighter end of scale there but not quite all the way to 'outrageous' ?

 

I like the simple and effective style though, discrete when off.. pics when done ?

but it looks to me like the sticky strip is on the same side as the light output. which suggests inside fixing? 

 

yeah I see the note you mean, does also say "can be directly affix it" lol so possibly just an 'Engrish' translation error

deffo on the inside, on mine I hung it inside and also inside some trucking and made brackets to attach to the rear screen rubber
