Hello

Could someone confirm if this dizzy has a high energy modul in it or not ?

Should I run it with a 3 ohm or lower resistance coil ?

Use that with a coil resistance of 1.4ohm minimum. 3 ohm coils should not be used with any variable dwell dizzy. If you want to run the Higher power version you need to look at the EVo versions.

Thanks AC

I learnt from your video that a white dot means LE module but I couldn't decide that there is a dot on mine or a "patch"  :D

It has the same modul that they put in PowerSpark dizzys ? Maybe the dizzy is equal to PowerSpark's top entry electronic version ? (D4-98)

Could I benefit anything with a HE modul on my very standard 998 A-series ?

Every engine runs better with high energy.

That's the low energy version.

I see, thanks

So I should choose one of these, right ? Ballast Ignition Coils - Powerspark Ignition

Maybe you know which curve GEU930MS has ?

If it were my car I would change the module to a higher power one and recurve the dizzy you already have.
Then fit a Viper VCE coil. There is a reason I curve my own dizzies, and that's because I can get consistent curves.
Use heatsink compound under the module when fitting the new one. Set the reluctor air gap to 0.5mm.

This is exactly what my plan is  :proud:

Actually I've made a "distributor machine", it looks BAU192MS is equal to a 41418 curve

Did you notice the high rpm retard which occurs on inductive ignition systems?

These powerspark units are magnetic pulse driven, not Hall effect.

Inductive means magnetic. Hall effect doesn't have the retard but I still choose to use inductive (magnetic). The level of retard varies depending on the module as well as the pickup gap.

This is not evident with the powerspark units.

My friend found this "old" 45D in his garage. The rectangular "trigger" is secured on the shaft with a pin.

Without the white dot how could we determine if it is a high or low energy unit ?

(I hope the link work as I unable to attach picture)

You run a 0.8ohm coil, if it fails it was not rated for
It.

Some graphs for the 998.

Black : factory 41418

Yellow : igntion123  'A' curve

Blue : 1st BAU1962MS  (in this one the springs were NOT manipulated  by the manufacturer)

Red : 2nd BAU1962MS (the springs were manipulated)

None of them are that useful, the secondary spring is too tight.
