I did used to worry about it braking down or getting vandalised when it was parked.

The main highway here in Johannesburg (south Africa) is known as the N1, it streches almost across the entire country, carrying some 300,000 vehicles every day between the country's largest city and its administrative capital only (a distance of some 60 kilometres). The N1 provides a high-quality, high-speed link between the north and south of South Africa, most notably Johannesburg and Pretoria (a distance of some 60 kilometres) and Johannesburg and Cape Town (a distance of some 1400 kilometres)
There are tons of bullies here especially our infamous taxi drivers.lets not talk about the rich idiots (bmw,4x4,merc and audi drivers).I hate those guys.
BUt enough about them.
I love driving my mini, its the one thing that puts a smile on my face and heart.Just cruising with my right arm hanging out the window, wind hitting my face. The sound of my engine droning in the cabin.I get goose bumps just thinking of it.
Man i am one proud mini owner.MINI'S rule

Generally, I feel concerned that the wheels are going to fall off but mostly its all good fun.
since my wheel did fall off, i lways feel nervous about that.

Well the limit sits on 120km/h but most people go way above and just try and push you out of the way. What's the speed limit on the N1 mate? My Uncle got nicked driving a combi :/
But i dont budge.I drive at a constant of about 80-100 km/h.

lol, I know a couple of people who have had bearings fail (not in minis) and its caused them to crash. I have mine up nearly every week wobbling the wheels to make sure they are ok !
Best one though was a mate when he was living in Germany had his opel kadet going down the road and got a puncture, stopped changed the wheel drove off down the road turned around a corner and the wheel came off (he hadnt done the nuts up properly). Best bit is it happened in the middle of the night right in front of a police car !

I love it when old men give me the thumbs up or people come over to talk to me about it.
In modern cars there is almost an insistence upon getting to the place your going as fast as possible, but when I'm in the Elf i can just plod along and love every second of it. When I'm alone I sometimes sing

I also spend quite alot of time(not too much) looking at people coming the other way to me to see them smiling at my car.
The whole thing is just absolute bliss, especially living near the place they film heartbeat, I go up onto the moors and am transported back to the 60's.
It is the kind of car that I want to still have when I'm very old
Brilliant!!!!

i agree with the modern cars always being in a rush though. I love my mini, so i don't feel like rushing anywhere, i don't get to go out in her often so i like to take my time but it annoys me when all i can see out of my back windscreen is a White tranny van grille.
And i refuse point blank to go fast over speed bumps, The closer the get the slower i go:) but thats because when i first got her we went over a speed bump slightly to fast and the end of the exhaust came off

the other weekend i had a really old bloke with 2 walking sticks come up to me and said " the best car i ever had was one of those 15 years i had my mini and it never let me down once" then he just walked off and as soon as he was out of sight i jumped puched the air and kissed my little car i was wearing a smile for the rest of the day dispite the dereaded tin worm!!! but you just have to love them!!!!!!!
and a man and his wife out for a walk with there 2 kids and the little boy said "can i have one of those daddy?" the father smiled looked at his wife and said "i wouldnt want him to have anything else!"
i still put my thumbs up to mini drivers when i see them going along the road bumping about in there little cars!
when you buy a mini you dont buy a car, you dont buy a mini, YOU BUY A LIFE STYLE and it has to be the best in the world!!!!!!
i have a great deal of respect for all mini drivers knowing that they havent just bought any old car to get from A to B in they have bought a car that they know and love for what ever reason!!!
happy driving guys and girls! hehe
