well got some great news, My boss talked to a bodywork guy who does stuff for our shop, he's doing a green mk2 right now, and Ken said this guy would give me a uber deal on bodywork...so i think i'll go for it, the school doesn't seem like it's going to work out. I'll have to get a quote on the work though. Oh, and I've got a decent header (North American Speak for exhaust manifold) and we're going to sort out the radiator, carbs, alternator and starter. paint these things, and the rocker cover and it'll be done. Then paint the wheels. Then Bodywork etc...I'll get some pics next year. ah hem. next week. I might have blown up my battery charger with non rechargeables...so we'll see about the pics...i'll try to get them in under a year though :D

just been in today, and we've got the starter, dizzy, and alternator on and done, the starter is black, to break up the green  and the alternator is black, with a silver casing...oh, and the LCB has been painted cast iron grey, with special manifold paint, and the carb heat shields have been silverized....so just the carbs to clean up, and the rad to sort out, then we'll start it up, and hope it doesn't leak

And I've also confirmed that at the end of the month-ish, the car will go for bodywork, for little or no charge...I am waaaay too lucky and spoiled knowing ken...so I have to start saving for the rest of the engine, and then paint, which will be expensive, as I have to do a colour change, undercoat, waxoil etc. Well, might go in on monday, will get pics then if i do go in...

Well, the engine is now complete. I went in today, to paint and bolt together the last bits, manifold, rad...so once that was done, we put it together, hooked everything up, attached a battery, fuel pump, and after some oileaks...(all repaired, except for one that is a too-thin blank-off plate that weeped oil, but we'll fix that up...and the rad needs to be welded, as it leaked a bit) and we had to replace the coil. So finally it ran, but there's no vid of it revving, maybe when we repair the rad, i'll get it revving up! So, here's the pics.

Oh, and I have a plan of attack. In November it will go for it's cheap, cheap bodywork, and when that is done, in the spring and early summer, then Ken and I (the chap in the vid, whos helped and supported me for this whole thing) will do the brakes and suspension, and after that's sorted, I will spray the interior and engine bay (myself, I'm giving it a go!!!). Once that's done, I'll drop the engine, wire it up, put in the interior, get the exterior sprayed by someone who knows what they are doing, and the bolt on the shiny bits, lights etc....then it'll be done!!! hopefully it will be done in a year and a half...well that's my plan!!! Enjoy the pics!!!

nope its not to do with left hand drive.

mine is the same as yours can mini fan. in the Uk cars the thermostat housing points towards the front not the rear like our ones.

having said all that i am swaping mine over to the uk style as my rad has a mad water takeoff on mine.
