If your after a 2.9 FD look for an 850, as they had silly final drives put in them

They had FD the other way round though pie...
850 were design to be reved. so most 850's had 3.6, 3.7 FD's

I do have a 3.6 - I think here, and a 3.44, and I would be willing to swap my 3.6 for a 2.9 or 3.1.

well good and bad news to report.

I'll start with the bad;

I grounded the Mini on a speed bump in Staines at the weekend... this has ripped my exhaust backwards and I now have to get new rubbers for it :shifty:

I have a fueling problem... originally suspected it to be C**p fuel, but drained the tank, and refilled with nice clean, fresh fuel... and still has a problem. It feels like at "high" revs, its not getting enough fuel, or has a slight misfire. I think the pump might be on its way out :(

He's now going back onto 12" steelies :w00t: after the tyres were let down at SMD, they are not sealing right, and I could do with new tyres.

AND finially, I've got fed up with his overheating. Fitted a heater matrix up front, like an oil cooler, but for water... in affect this should of cooled it right down, but nope, its made it hotter :w00t: So going to drain the system tomorrow, and refill it with fresh water/anti-freeze at around a 30/70 mixture (antifreeze/water)

The good news;

New fitting ordered for the exharst, and I've also found out my LCB was upside down, so making the exharst lower than it should be... so going to turn that round, and sort my VERY annoying exharst clamp thats been dangling down for yonks.

Ordered a new pump, new fuel lines, a carb rebuild kit, and a can of Carb cleaner. Going to replace the pump, and rebuild my carb, and while I am there, swap my inlet over to my PECO one.

New tyres are on order, in fact, I might of got myself some new wheels :ermm:

and as for the overheating... going to flush the system again, shove in just plain water, maybe a cup of anti-freeze, just it has some in there... then going to see Aldon Automotive in Birmingham, for a rolling road session. As its been pointed out it could be my fuel/timing thats out, and causing it to overheat. I am also, going to try and run it with just a blanking sleave where the 'stat is, see if it runs better without a 'stat.

Hopefully, after all that, he should run cooler, smoother, and generally, be nicer :dozing:

How do you mean Bungle?

When I say "high" revs, I mean sat at 55/60mph in 4th. I have a feeling it could be something due to the heated inlet... its getting tooo hot, thus vaporising the fuel too fast...

I might disconnect my heated manifold see if that helps...
But I am going for a RR next week, hopefully, so I will make sure it all correct then >_<

i know a stronger spring or another spring in your carb may help with the fueling when at top revs, as the float chamber maybe fully open before the revs are max (i maybe wrong on that though) so a new spring may help ?

Wooooooooooooooohooooooooooooooooo!

I've finally sourced a 3.1 final drive, and a pre-verto flywheel :xxx: :xxx: :xxx: :P
So now, all i need is a A+ transfer case, and that my engine pretty much complete, just need to get a Orange clutch kit then, and well, other little bits, but yey, engine is nearly done :P

Next job - restore a front subframe for it to drop into :P

Well Ladies and Gents, I have a small update :D

Nothing to do with the Winter Rebuild :D

But someone decided to have a pop at Flubber, while I was sat on the roundabout in Hereford... Stupid people, they were in the wrong lane on the roundabout, didn't see me, bang, hit me right in the rear hinge :D

So set about today of repairing the damage... its not brilliant, but its done the job :D

First off, the damage...
Posted Image
Posted Image

As you can see, the hinge held the body, and creased it round... making the door gap VERY wide at the bottom, and pushing the door up, so making it hard to open the door...

Posted Image

After a bit of stripping, I found a bit of filler, hiding a hole :D BUT the bit of steel that down on that corner, is like new!!! Its great :P

Posted Image

Rubbing back to allow a "key" for the paint, and rust treatment...

Posted Image

this is the second layer of filler that I placed over the damage, be assured, I red oxided, and then rubbed that back, and went over with Zinc Oxide primer, before fillering... so that I know its treated =]

A Layer of primer, just to see where I need to skim a little thin layer over little imperfections...

Posted Image

First coat of paint...

AND Finally, the final coat before rebuilding =] The Van is now in the garage, will start to rebuild it tomorrow, once the paint has hardened a bit  - not bad for a novice damage repair, and not bad for £20 of paint and filler, and knowing which end of a hammer I use ^_^

Thanks :D

Theres still a slight "dent" but I can't do anything about it, only way to completely sort it would be chop the bit out, and welding a fresh bit of metal. So when its dry, you will see a slight wallow where the damage was :D But its going for a total respray hopefully sometime VERY soon... so this'll do till then :D
