Well, got the new timing cover on, and all the gubbins involced with taking the old on off, back on tonight.

Well just got to bolt the rad brace down, and then it'll be done

I've also received my new bits from Minispares and ABS.
Finished my HIF44 off tonight, and just needing to pop to the nuts n bolts shop tomorrow to get some nuts for my new inet, and I say we be a cracking :)

So tomorrow nights antics... finish fitting rad, and go about fitting my new carb... it'll prob end up being too late to start the car, so will have to wait till thuesday before I can test it :closed: But if all is well, then Friday evening, I shall pop it up to the garage for a tune up, and timing set... then the weekend will involve getting it all back comfy to drive :)

Soon as I am ahppy with the way its running, it'll be unleased on the streets
And yesh, hopefully, it shall be at Malvern :D :P  ;)

Anyways, engine is all back together now... I've also fitted a restored HIF44 with a BBW Needle.. and a K&N Filter.

Had some trouble with the new inlet, I couldn't get my spanner, OR socket onto the nuts :dontgetit: well i tell a lie, I managed to get one of the nuts done with the socket, but then proptly managed to get the darn socket trapped between the inlet, and nut :(

But with a bit of swearing I got them all done up nicely :genius:

Its plumbed in, fuel lines set, new throttle cable done... and went to fit my starter motor - no fecking bolts to be found :( So gotta find out the size of the starter motor bolts now... and fill it with Water and jobs done - start it up, and tune in the HIF44.

Pictures at the ready :(....

Ok after a few problems of it not starting on the new carb, I have taken the carb off once again, and sorted out the clearance issues with the inlet.

I found that I could not get a spanner OR a socket to fit onto the nuts that sit under the inlet, so I tickled it a bit to make it fit better, and I've also taken some advice with cutting the lower mounting areas out, so all I need to do now, is loosen the manifold, and lift, rather than taking the nuts off fully - thank you Minivanman >_<

Heres a few pictures from tonight...

The modified inlet...

Complete carb... no filter shown atm, as I am going to take the back plate to work to drill a few more holes into it, as it was intentionally a HS6 filter not a HIF44 filter.

Hey Boo.
Yah fuel is getting to the carb not a problem.

But anyways, after faffing about with the sodding thing for ages, I decided to refit the HIF38...
Set up the timing at 4degrees, and resealed the timing cover. I also changed the coils over back to my hi-proformace lucus one, as my HT lead wasn't liking the hellfruads replacement.

Within a few turns, and a drop of petrol into the mouth of the carb.... it burst into life :o Tick over was about 2000rpm, to which at the time I had no idea why... adjusted the screws etc, to no prevail :( Then I just pushed the throttle lever down, and the cable sliped slightly, and it started ticking over normally :dontgetit: So that problem was easy... a too tight of cable :)

Once that was done, a slight twist of the dizzy to bring it a nice rpm, and making it sound sweet....
Now it was running, I left it tick over, at 2000rpm to bed the cam in, while I had eyes like a hawk checking for leaks and mysterious noises... thankfully none were found ;)

Also, I actually managed to have time to check the clutch, and oil pressure... depressed the clutch, all fine... selected gear super smooth :P I am extreamly happy that it works, for some reason I had a nightmare of a thought, I'd have to strip it all again because the clutch was binding up... as for the oil pressure... 90psi :D removing the oil cooler was a good idea after all :)

Once all the enginey bits were done, I set about getting all the tirm refitted... got it done, but need to do some wiring now :( this I am going to leave for tomorrow... I am cold, wet, and have a sticking headache :(

But with that, I'll leave with a possative...

a Video of flubber running, and how he looks ciurrently :D

yeh, its just sounds powerful, and torquey...

I do fancy a more of a growling exhaust, but for now, I am just going to run it in with what I have, the Maniflow exhaust cost me too much to just get rid lol

The slightly tapping/sewing machine noise u hear is the crank pully tapping the timing cover... as I slightly bent the one lip on the pully, and now it taps  Will get a BFH out and sort it :o
