Progress is slow this week, with the weather being so bad i've done nothing to the shell. I've taken my head in to be skimmed to get my compression through the roof though, I should be picking that up tomorrow so the engine build will start very soon.

Well today things have gained some speed.....I have stripped the front end of the car completely, subframe and suspension off.....did I mention that this particular subframe won't be going back on the car either....?

Got the head back from skimming and CC'd it, you may already know that 10thou on a 73.5mm bore is worth 1cc....with the combustion chamber being the shape it is 10thou off the head should be worth a bit less than 1cc, so I asked for 20thou off the head as I was trying to lose around 1.5cc from the total chamber volume......well I lost 2.5cc! which means my compression ratio will be 13.1:1.....or in other words extremely bloody high!!!

My cometic head gasket came through the post today too so I now have everything I require to reassemble the engine.....yeehaa!

Go for some Jenvey ITBs and a Mega Squirt management system, that way you can have different maps for different fuel grades (ooooooo Bioethanol!)

I'll be running it on a mapped ignition, just not fuel injection.

Just made a windage tray for the gearbox, its almost finished.....just need to drill and tap the other side (where the oil pickup pipe normally fixes) so I can fix it down at that end, and add some drain holes I think.

are you not covering the final drive and diff up with the windage tray too?? surely having half the engine running with the weight of oil on it is worse than all of it!
