there are ways round induction roar and usually its the exhaust they are more bothered about. only trouble with getting the noise down in ur case it the std round nose front end! not a lot of room for plenum chanbers or air boxes without that lovable clubby front (oops did i just swear)

Trust me, the induction roar far outweighs the exhaust noise....however as they test the exhaust before they let you on the track I need to get that as low as I can.

I have considered an air box on the front, it needs careful consideration though as my brother tried one on his and couldn't get it to run right on the rolling road.

Is your brothers car still in existence or has it been broken up and sold as spares??

As for the induction noise you have to be careful as they do have drive-by noise meters in action at some trackdays.

Cheers

no its still alive and well, just undergoing a small transformation.

That was my point about the air boxes, if I can get the exhaust quiet enough to get on a circuit, i'll then have to do something about the drive by noise which is still hurrendous because of the webers hanging out of the bonnet

dan, outta interest, that plug thats just where the oil pickup pipe is..... is that for a remote filter?

reason i ask is because my new engine has been prep'd for that, theres a plug in that normal oilway just where it goes from the gearbox to the block. And then on the back of the block theres a fitting for a braided hose. Apparently on the original gearbox for the engine there was another fitting where that plug is on urs and the guy had a remote oil filter between the 'box and block.

... anyways.. is that what you do with urs?

I think that is just a magnetic pick up for metal particles

Dan, thats just a magnetic plug as Mr. Boo said.

What you describe is actually the ultimate in oil filtering modifications, which I would do if I wasn't doing such frequent oil changes.

If you block the oil way between the gearbox and block, come out of the gearbox into a filter and back into the oilway in the block you would now be filtering the oil before it hits the oil pump.....whereas at the moment we all send our oil through the pump full of swarf and bits of gearbox and then to the filter....which seems a bit silly really!

The engines basically ready to run now, but the shell is in a very sorry state!!!
