Not much progress of late, been ordering more supplies and had a few things keeping me busy ;)

Got myself a proper bottle of welding gas sorted though, not through BOC either so no yearly rental, just a £25 bottle deposit which is nice.

Put my order in with M-Machine on friday aswell, so anytime soon i should have this little lot winging it's way to me..

Also helping a mate get his car ready for Japfest at coombe on the 11th while i wait for panels to arrive. That only gives us 2 weeks to get a car back on the road that's been sat in a lockup for the last 5 years and currently has no inlet or supercharger fitted. Going to be a beast when it's running again though, I'm trying my best not to go out and buy myself another jap car, i really miss having one :/

So finally a delivery from mini-machine today :)

Nice little surprise in the box being the heritage rear quarters, i was expecting pattern panels so pretty chuffed with that!

Inner/outer sill assemblies look well made too.

Knocked up a spit from some unistrut, an old jack handle and an old pair of brace bars..

Then had a bit of a dig at the o/s sill, came off pretty easily surprisingly...

Like the spit, unistrut is usefull stuff! Stick some braked rubber wheel castors on the spit, it'll make things so much better. The stuff that you get from m machine is good quality and good prices. I live waaaaay up in the Shetland isles and they get stuff up quickly, ace service.

Can't beat a bit of strut, especially when it's free! ;)

I was going to stick some castors on it, but my garage is only small so i won't need to move it again till i move onto the passenger side. Easy enough to just lift and move over when i need to, or drop it on the pallet with castors it was sitting on untill today.

Got another length of 21x41 strut left to brace up the inside of the shell before i start hacking panels out, that's probably tomorrow mornings job.

I don't know how you have the front of the spit rigged but if you look on my build thread I have an easy way of locking the shell at certain angles. I simply bored a hole through the outer tube and through the inner tube that goes through the shell and made a pin to go through the holes locking the inner tube in place. Saves having a length of timber holding the shell which if it was on my spit I would no doubt knock it out of place every two minutes!

the front's rigged up similar to the back, but the 2 aren't joined together. I was going to get all elaborate and use an old brake disc with holes drilled round it and weld it to one of the tubes to drop a locking peg through.

then when i spun it over i got carried away and started attacking the rust!

Spit's a bit wobbly, but for what it cost it's made the job a hell of a lot easier!

Had a bit of time on it today, braced the o/s door aperture and got most of the old inner and various layers of outer sills out. chopped out the rear door packet and some of the seat overhang too.

Need to order me a flitch repair and decide whether to get a pair of rear arches too, but not sure as they'll be getting tubbed anyway and some JB turrets fitted.

Been a bit of a break since the last update, life & work getting in the way of progress.

Decided my welding really wasn't up to scratch so sought the services of cradley_heathen who's just been round for a week and got cracked on with it for me.

I can't recommend his work enough, if anyone's after anything doing then he's definitely the man to get in touch with. It's been amazing coming home from work of a night and seeing new panels fitted.

So far this week he's sorted out the flitch and drivers floor I'd hashed in place then moved onto the good stuff.

Inner & outer sills

door step & A post

heelboard end

rear quarter

rear arch

boot hinge panel and bottom corner

aswell as a few other patches and bits that need to be made up.

Time for a few pics anyway..

good pics there nick! is that using some kind of slight fish eye lens? looks cool!

in looking forward to the next stint, get it the same on the other side, then tackle the boot floor, i have got a few ideas about how to do that and make it really slick.

Cheers dudes :)

Yeah Jez, it's a wide angle lens and gives a slight fish eye effect when you're out at its widest. Comes in handy for taking pics in my pokey garage!

Same here, next month can't come soon enough! I'll get it spun round and all the grot hacked out ready. Looking forward to hearing your boot floor idea's, I best start looking into an ally fuel tank ready.

yes mate, an ally tank would be a real nice addition! if you can get one before i next come over we could maybe sink it through the boot floor, lower the centre of gravity a little..... the posibilites are endless!
