That power curve is like mount everest . Nice and smooth though, got to think with those pistons thats a healthy figure, reckon it will hit 200 with a rebuild.

Going breaky meet next week?

cheers dudes ;)

i'm glad it's held together on these pistons, i wanted to see how much abuse they'd take. They're showing their age now though after 30k+ miles, getting a fair amount of blowby. Will see how long they last this season and then do a strip over next winter and a rebuild with new pistons and some crank/rod work to let me rev it higher and make full use of the turbo.

might come to the brekky meeet if it's dry :D

10 days till avon i *think* i can afford to get the mini legal again (tax & insurance) so i best pull me finger out.

it came out to try and find an oil leak and check the cam timing while i'm at it.

Had a snoop around and can't find the source of the leak at all on the block/gearbox. Last hope is the turbo oil drain. got the head and timing gear off last night and tonight i've refitted it all with fresh gaskets/sealent etc.

Tomorrow nights task will be a new rear wheel cylinder and shoes and also fitting the pick up for a cheapo bike speedo seeing as i haven't had a speedo since i first converted the car..

garage desperately needed a tidy up first though.

well it's all up and running in time for avon, even gave it a wash!

Off to work in a minute and the mini is sat in the garage all packed up ready to go so i can jump in and head down when i finish work.

did your clubby have a new but poorly fitted headliner when you bought it? and did you buy it from a young blonde/fair hair bird? it looks alot like a mini i did some repairs on when i worked in a small mini garage in birmingham some years ago! i recognise the colour, and the wheels, and when you said metro 4 pots, it definetly rang a bell! (if it is the same car, it didnt have the braided metro to mini conversion hoses on the callipers, but a T brake junction with the original metro 4 pot brake hoses? lol) if its the same one its a small world!!

sounds like the same one chap, although i got it from a bloke in Walsall.

headlining must have got refitted properly at some point as it was ok untill i took it out, but yeah the brake piping setup was different to the normal metro conversion route.

Very small world indeed :withstupid:
