Did you do any runs last month then?

didn't get chance to get down, had a few little issues to sort out on the car.

Went down to Avon park yesterday though for the last one of the season to try and get a few runs in but it was rained off :errr:

Will have to try and get to pod when it re-opens in january i think.

Oh ok.

Do you have a spec of your engine?

It has a very impressive power output.

Im in the middle of collecting parts for my turbo conversion and still deciding on spec.

It's not really anything special to be honest:

1293cc
AE cast 21253 pistons opened to 11cc
std rods and crank
ARP bolts
avonbar phase 2 cam
morspeed head, fully worked and 35.7x31 stainless valves
8.7:1 comp ratio
metro turbo manifold
GT2056 turbo
everythings been tickled to flow as smoothly as possible ie carb, manifolds etc
SCCR box, SC drops, LSD, 3.44:1 fd
ultralight flywheel, ap rally plate, grey diaphragm
cosworth intercooler
megajolt ignition

has been mapped and carb needle profiled by me on the road.

I did want to give it a run on the rollers at 25psi the other weekend but had clutch issues so had to pull out unfortunately.

just a bit of an update, cars been off the road for a few months now after a coolant issue i had all of last season suddenly got worse.

I had a good idea what the issue was, on a long run the coolant system would pressurise and when i parked up and shut down the engine after about 5 mins it would dump all the coolant from the weakest hose join. Took it down to the Ace Cafe at the end of last year and it dropped it all when i parked there and again when i got back up the motorway. After that it gradually got worse and finally one day dumped all of its water in less than half a mile so i limped it home and took the head off to see this...

i'd had the head welded up a few years back by a mate after having the valve seats recut and it going through to the water jacket. Now its pinholed in the welds again which is what i was expecting although its nowhere as bad as i thought.
I'll be taking the head into a cast welding specialist on thursday to see if it can be repaired again as my mate who kindly did it before has moved to Canada. if its going to cost too much or cant be done then i've already got a new head specced from Turbo Phil so will go with one of those :)

also picked up a matching Cobra Monaco S yesterday which i'll get bolted into the passenger side before she hits the road again :)

also measured up the valves and i've only been running 29mm exhausts all this time, really tempted to just get one off Phil with 31mm exhausts instead of trying to salvage this one...

on the road it feels similar to a std T3 boost threshold wise, but it makes full boost in a shorter space of time. Not convinced that RR graph is accurate, seemed to rev up really quick like there wasn't a lot of resistance on them, need to get it on another set for a comparison really.

after the cast welding specialist wanted £225 per chamber to repair the head i've had it done by a chap over on turbominis for free!

picked it back up on tuesday night and ground the welds down yesterday then dropped it off at the machine shop to have the inlet seats recut and an exhaust guide replaced for the grand total of £30! bargain!

Won't know if the weldings worked until i pick the head back up hopefully this afternoon and get it bolted on but fingers crossed :)

been out for a quick drive tonight, temp stays normal, water isn't disappearing and the coolant system isn't over pressurising yet so it looks to be fixed....will take it for a proper drive and get it really warm tomorrow and see how it copes :)
