little bit of carpentry to finish in the morning, then the gable end can be built in the afternoon and the roofers should be making a start on the main roof on thursday/friday!!!!! the rendering can then be done and the front and side scaffolding will come down and the rear roof can then be done and we'll be watertight!!!!!!!

Scaffolding should be down at the front and side tommorow, i have been working on the decking all day. the hot tub is now on and working and i had a can of lager in it at 9pm.

Decking base is nearly finished and a few of the balustrading newel posts are in have concreted posts around the hot tub and in place for the steps. big delivery of decking coming on thursday.. (i have about 10 lengths already here and will be getting some of the more difficult cots done and fitted tommorow so that i can whack the majority down on thursday and friday.

Too wet for decking, cleared the driveway, cleared out the front part and what will become the shower room and the roof should be going on the back tommorow and if the weather is good, i'll be decking again. My brother who is overseeing the build now reckons that we should make the front room which was to be a play room in to a store/ workshop with some big doors on it as we don't have any access to the back garden without going through the house and need somwhere to put bikes... the width of the front window is only 1.8 metres, the room is 2.5 metres wide and 4.5 metres long so is not big enough to fit a car in so it won't be classed as a garage it will have power, light and probably some heating too. He has managed to convince Mrs Biggav that we need storage more than we need a kids playroom..

I measured the Mini and it will fit in easily (told her it won't fit) so i will be able to do my engine change. body work and probably some spraying at home, and keep the car out of the wet!!!!!!

Is it too late to add an RSJ to the ceiling of the "playroom" so you can have a chain hoist in there?

nooo, don't need one anyway, the engine hoist means i can lift engines out and move them easily anywhoo.

Decking is coming along nicely, carpenter back in the morning to fit Velux Windows and Felt and batton the Roof. pics to follow.

the extension is about 450mm back from the front of the house so the extention ridge is about 6-8 inches lower than the original....

i'll get a picture of the front up soon, that will explain it bettererer.
