i would have to buy a tent and camping gear too, which would mean that it would probably cost me more to camp than stay in a hotel...

i think many others will have the same problem...

Assuming there will be 50 of us, there are bound to be differing opinions; perhaps it's best to leave it up to the individual, those that wish to camp, camp and those that wish to stay in hotels, stay in hotels. I'm sure that the campers will all be able to get onto one site and the hotelers get into one/two hotels and then we just all meet up again wherever.

wouldn't it be better for all of us to meet together for the start and stay in one convoy througout the trip from start to finish?ie everybody has to make their minds up camp or hotel by a certain date?maybe then all the cars could have a timetable to keep to (and a number perhaps)and follow car no1 from dover?

As a Student and owner of a pickup  I say Camping.

But like waht has been said before, why not just do both?
Just do there in one convoy then split off to the different sleeping area's???

I clicked camping because its cheap...

but then regretted it, the amount fo stuff for camping vs spares and room etc...

hotel would be much better I now think!

I would be prepared to camp, but hotel will be so much easier. If we camp in the 'campenille' or 'F1' hotels at side of motorways, then they cost very little. you get a room a tv and some breakfast. Which is all we need because at night we should all eat out together and find the local drinkery!

We need a cut-off date, say January or whenever. Then get a final number of cars and people (single, couples and family), then we can get prices and book stuff.

Koblenz is nearest place of any size.

The Nürburgring lies 90 km southwest of Cologne or 60 km northwest of Koblenz. The nearest airports are Köln-Bonn (80 km) an Düsseldorf (120 km).

Recommended routes
From the direction of Köln: A 1 to the end of the autobahn (AB)
From the direction of Trier or Luxemburg: A 48 to AB exit Ulmen
From the direction of Koblenz or Bonn: A 61 to AB exit Wehr

Hi, i thought i would just add to this a second.

We have been price enquiring at the F1 hotels and it works out to be around £20 a night a ROOM, which i think is VERY cheap. What we were going to do is take everybodies money in advance for the hotels and the ferry crossing and run pack, this would cost roughly £175 then all you would need is petrol money, spending money and track money for the time we go away. I thought it would be better to do it like this as it saves u guys the hassle of booking at hopefully we will all get in one or 2 hotels.

There more I look into this the more I realise that we need to book very soon. Half the Koblenz hotels on expedia are sold out already.
