Arfnoon.
My Matilda has had three new sets of wheel bearings in the past 2000 miles... :dontgetit:
Now the funny ve-vum-ve-vum-ve-vum-ve-vum noise is back & is getting louder & I can no longer ignore it or drown it out with music. :(
I find it hard to believe that it could be a third set of faulty bearings, so what else could it be?
Any ideas from you Egghead-types, please?

:)

Wheels are brand new & balanced, so perhaps not, but hubs maybe? :(
The first set of bearings were from one manufacturer, the next two were from another....

If the bearings really are wearing out then it could be they're being under or over tightened.

That could be down to worn drive flanges, swivel hubs, the bearing spacer or the same monkey fitting them badly.

We are talking front un's?

If I was a betting man I'd put money on you having a damaged flange.........

Anyway, back to the wheel noises :(

Flange could be damaged I guess, the hub could be worn, the guy/gal who's fitting the bearings should be able to tell what's causing it when they change them to be honest.

They can't wear out that quickly, though, surely?
Yup, we're talking front uns.
The "monkey" in question is Wood & Pickett & they were pretty angry about the first couple of times it happened. >:(

*Checks briefly in grundypants*
Nope. Those flanges seem pretty fine to me. :)

So flanges & hubs, you say? Eh?

I shall be mentioning that (and therefore making myself look supremely knowledgeable) when I go see 'em on monday then. Cheers Chappies! :(

Mmm I doubt Wood 'n Pickett let too many monkeys work unsupervised.

Be careful sounding too knowledgeable or they may use it against you.

Might be safer to flutter your eyelashes 'n faithfully mimic that ve vum for them.

It's mainly Chimps & Orangs. They only employ the higher primates. :(

Work on your pout 'n pronouncing Ve Vum in a French accent 'n they may toss in some complimentary lubrication.
