But she's still making that weird singing noise of "Whoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo"". It raises in pitch with speed & is independent of transmission.
She's running really quiet now, but there are three sugnificant sounds I can make out:
1. Air filter
2. Tyre roar
3. "Whoooooooooooooooo", which turns into "whum whum whum" on high speed roundabouts
Do I have a strange form of tinnitus?
Do I have the ears of a hypochondriac?
Do I need therapy?
Is it "normal mini noise"?
Is she calling for a mate?
Or is there something else wrong that we've been missing all along?

Help us please?

I am guessing all her nipples were checked and greased etc on your last service.
I would suggest jacking her up and giving her wheels a good spin and rock from side to side but not sure it is possible in said short skirt and lippy

Maybe she is lonely and calling for Frankie

Hmmm, sounds like a wheel bearing noise again Ju - does it do it turning both ways or only one (helps identify which side it is)
I've not had a chance to get her under decent load on a left turn yet. I'll try & find an empty stretch of road this evening. I'm going to speak to the garage later an' all.
Meh. Meh. MEEEEEEEEEHH!

I just phoned them. Going to get them to road test her this pm. If it's making a noise turning right, then it's the one they just replaced.

If it transpires it is the one they replaced i would be insistingon genuine parts being used and proof of such

Just as an aside Ju - our 206 makes "wheel bearing" noises on theback - but it was actually the tyres! Since having 4 new ones it doesn't do it!
If it transpires it is the one they replaced i would be insistingon genuine parts being used and proof of such
To be honest, they probably ordered them from Wood & Pickett. Swings & roundabouts, isn't it?
I'll see what Man says when he has test driven.

"Noise come from centre of car. Might be diff"
Juju whimpers.

Man then says
"To start with, I reckon we should have your driveshafts checked and balanced, because they might be eating bearings and/or diff"
Juju says "'spensive?"
Man says "No. Cheap. Then we put slick stuff into oil. Massage diff"
Juju says "do you know what you're talking about?"
Man says "Me race minis. Me balance driveshafts first, then me tackle diff......diff 'spensive & annoying"
Juju says "Okies. Man get Juju quote for shaft balancing?"
Man says "Yes. In morning."
Juju says "Man still have minis?"
Man says "No. Got fed up with fixing them all the time. Then brother buys mini. Makes me rebuild it. Then brother rolls mini. Bad brother"
Juju drives home with Matilda wooooooing not really understanding what has transpired.

Anybody got any ideas about this? Please?
Sounds like you need to have a grown up chat, and not with some stranger on drugs

What he is saying is that if the driveshaft isn't 100% straight and true it will resonate and this eat bearings and the diff. Emma's old 106 had a balancing weight halfway along the longest shaft to balance it, so it isn't as off the wall as it sounds....
Persoanlly I think it would be worth doing asthere is deffo somethign wrong, as long as it isn't 'spensive. And yes you gan get oil additives to prolong lifes of power steering pumps and the like so assume that is the case for diffs too - let me know as this could be useful to most of us!!
Were you wearing said short skirt and lippy as previously discussed? Maybe he was talking that way as he couldn't concentrate

I understood his logic. It would make sense that a driveshaft not running true would affect whatever it is connected to at either end. I was just wondering if this is a plausible explanation on a lickle mini, because they're not exactly long shafts.
What is this additive he speaks of? Will it just increase the viscosity of the lubrican of the diff?

Thanks adautobits. And thanks for the pm. I may well take you up on the offer.
