this whole ordeal saddens me.

why should anyone be out of pocket ??

either buyer/seller can claim compensation from the PO so long as they have proof of postage.
claims cannot be made unitil 28days after the original posting date.

each claim gets a ref no so i believe both affected parties can check up on the progress.

as the item was bought and sold in good faith then surely its just a case of submitting a claim and then waiting for the payout before making a refund.

Matt is a parcel woth £15 short.

so really youre both even - this is as equal as it gets! if it does turn up then youre both still even..... if you want to send it back of your own accord then thats your choice!

But he still has the money. At the moment i have nothing. And that in my eyes is me having been ripped off. Thats why i suggested the donation. If he doesn't have the money then i have no problem.
Sending the item back is, like you say, my choice. But then thats the sort of person that i am. Matt donates the money, the item turns up, it belongs to Matt because he has not got the money for it, so i send him his property back. Leaving me with a warm glow inside that i've donated money to a charity and hopefully everyone will be happy

yeah i agree. to be fair if u think about it u shudnt have been stingy on the postage and got it recorded delivery or postage insurance.....and to be fair its not that much money

It was offered as £15 posted. No insurance was offered. With hindsight maybe i should have asked for recorded delivery.

@ myfirstmini: it will get sent back because if he donates the cash the item still belongs to him. Not everybody is out to rip everyone else off

agree with slyoldfox there.

altho it does make me wonder why a grown bloke at 34 years old is making such a fuss about £15!!! are times that hard?! could understand it if you were 17.

as said, ask him for £7.50 then its done with.

The money isn't the issue, it's the principal of it all.
