i dont like the personal insults in this thread.

£15 is £15 !!

and like i said before - why should anyone be ripped off ??

the solution is very easy.

extra insurance is not needed as the value is under the standard £34 PO limit.
the problem arises if there is no proof of postage.

As Sly says, there is standard insurance put on everything through the P.O.

With the problems Matt has had recently with sending things I'd expect him to be responsible enough to keep all proof of postage. In which case he said claim the money back with the P.O. and refund it to you. If he has lost the proof of postage then we should start talking about him refunding/donating to charity out of his own pocket.

Sorry to comment on this but:

If something goes missing in the post and i dont have receipt, i send another out.

Ok, this costs me, and all profit gone, but if i know i have sent it, but cant prove it, then i have to lump it.

(my pockets fill up with receipts which then get binned for me)

So think matt needs to take this on the chin and have a file for postage receipts.

Right ill start again shall i :withstupid:

per pms (which im happy to send to anyone) the item didnt appear via royal mail.. with the postal strikes happening i was informed that nothing sent recorded deliver was insured anyway, and as such didnt send it recorded (yep my fault) so as smudger says above.. i was willing to fork out yet another drive thingy... and more than willing to send it out recorded this time.. it meet him half way or drop it off to a friend (his suggestion). For 2 nights running ive been down to his friends house (i didnt have an actual address - just what the house looked like, some have garages, some dont.. but roughly all the same colour) and the house i believed to be his friends had the lights off every time i went.. one night i went at 6 and one night i went at 8.

So in my eyes im now one lil box down in the postal service somewhere, sinister wants me to deposit 15 pound (admitley to a good cause) but after sourcing another box.. i now have that too!

ill be open about it.. ive been having problems with money, thus the reasons why ive been selling all of this stuff off. money problems will hopefully disappear come payday which is the 28th. At that point im more than happy to pay who ever :D
but to say that its principle is wrong of you... ive done everything i could do. and its not been good enough in your eyes.. to me.. i think running around to try and find your friend without a contact name or number is one thing.. to source and offer to send you another box recorded delivery is another. By my standards Is perfectly good enough.. its a damn sight more than anyone else would goto.

At no point did i say that i would not refund you.. i just wasnt keen on it for the above reasons.
In my eyes and quite a few others... thats a pretty good reason.. anyone else agree?

i dont want another debate.. and i dont want anymore problems. come the 28th ill pay whoever i have to pay.. and should sinister want to make this public.. so be it....but at least ive tried... more than i can say for him or his mate..

Taking the people out of this situation & looking at the whole picture of buying & selling via TMF. The rules state that you must put a price within the advert or it will be pulled. Would it be possible to modify the new post function to bring up a screen which states the code of conduct of the TMF. The new poster would have to agree to this before they can post. In there the rules that the TMF team beleive is a fair way to trade. One of the rules could/would be that the responisibilty of ensuring the goods arrive at the buyers address is the sellers responsibility (which is UK law). There could also be rules about time limits for refunds if that was felt appropriate.

Maybe this is going off topic & a new post ought to be opened to dicuss it, also maybe an input from the TMF team as to whether it's feasible or not.

i've had the same sort of probs with Royal mail when selling on Ebay.
I also live in Oxfordshire and recently sold loads of my old music stuff including mooks of sheet music. all my items start at 99p and postage costs are enough to cover royal mail standard and enough packageing to protect the item...

I had about 10 packages delayed in the strike and mostly people were understanding about the situation but some went to the extream of emailing every day to say "where's my parcel!!" even though i had told them i had sent it the day after recieving payment and gave proof of posting.

2 items i sent by parcel force were delayed and 1 lost completley.. the one that was lost was a set of tweeter boxes which are available to buy new on ebay for £30 delivered (i started at 99p) but mine were bid up to about 68 quid all in!!! i sent them the next day (parcel force collected from my house) and the tracking number was immediatley available to the buyer as i used the ebay/paypal link to Parcel force which links the parcel force details to the ebay item.

7 days later, i was told that the item hadn't arrived, checked tracking and it had got to inverness and been passed for dispatch but never got there. so i started an enquiry with Parcel force...

at about this time, the purchaser must have realised that similar items were available for far less on ebay and wanted an immediate refund which i was hesitant to give since i had sent my item and paid for insured postage.... they also said that i had over charged for the item and should have given it to them at a discount!!! :withstupid: (even though they bid it up!!)

Parcel force and Royal mail are very evasive when you try and claim and you have to download a claim form and physically post it to them (so they can loose it :D)

Once i had sent the claim, I sold my sky plus box and BT home hub a few days later and refunded the buyer just to get rid of them... i am now availting my claim money from parcel farce.

one of the late items was taken to the Royal mail Depot (designated a parcel force collection point (again i had done the ebay/paypal link)) but since it was the day before a strike, the depot manager apparently wanted everything moved out to prevent backlog and sent all parcels to the oxford depot (which had been on strike for 3 days already) where my parcel farce item was mixed in with all the royal mail stuff, damaged and delivered by royal mail 10 days later!!!!!

Parcel farce won't let me claim as the item never appeared on their system even though i have a signed collection note and consignment number from paypal (and the buyer recieved it!!!!)

Thankfully, the buyer can see that i have done everything in my power to put it right and has accepted the damaged goods.

These things happen and it takes time to get them put right.

P.S..... Cats protection league??????? :techsupport:

i think that it should be looked into (and a little box when you post the add to put the price in otherwise it won't let you post as it gets really annoying when people post without price or location.)

The thing is, if items are posted and proof of postage is provided, how can you hold the seller responsible??

Because it's the sellers responsibilty, they need to ensure the method of postage covers them in the event of the item going astray. If it means an increase in postage costs (special delivery, Recorded Delivery, Courier instead of RM) then so be it. It's part of the deal for selling via TMF or any other format where face to face dealing is not available.

Alan...
p.s. Off to MITP in the rain in an open topped buggy :D so I won't make any more replies till tomorrow

matt is no scammer...also i guess from the last instance with the postal services hes reluctent to give back refunds.

someone brought something from matt, during the postal strikes, matt sent something off. in this case a quickshift. guy moaned so matt gave him his money back.......however the quick shift turned up and the guy admited it, yet he dident send it back too matt, nor did he give any money back to matt, and as the parcel arived matt could not claim off the postal services......

i think your going to have it take it up with the postal services, nobody apart from them is to blame in this situation imho.

That was me, i bought the q/shift off Matt well before the strikes,he was a bit slow sending it out and did not reply
to my PM's hence my post on here.

Matt did give me a refund less postage costs,I offered the q/shift back to him but he told me to keep it.

As far as i'm concerned its done and dusted.

Matt & Sinister,

You need to get this back to PM's as its only going to get messy if its all posted on here.

Slyoldfox2001- if anything i've posted has caused offence, i sincerely apologise.

ROD- i only started this thread as PMing had come to a bit of a stalemate. As it stands i've now resigned myself to the fact that the item won't show and that the moneys gone. Lifes too short.

Cheers

I have a couple of things to say about this. Firstly, anyone dealing over the forum should make it a priority to get the item sent out (I'm not saying you didn't Matt) and get it sent RECORDED or even SPECIAL delivery. That goes for buyers and sellers, I'd be willing to pay extra for postage to save all this.

Another thing, I don't like to be judgemental but there has been problems with certain sellers in the past and if I were one of these sellers I wouldn't go spending a buyers money as soon as I got it and then tell them they'll have to wait two weeks (or thereabouts) to get their money back. Money problems, fair enough, we all have them, but isn't your reputation worth keeping in the long term?

I'm sceptical about buying from people from this forum after hearing so many people have problems, hence me going to minispares for £75 worth of stuff today rather than bothering to post in the 'wanted' section.

I learnt my lesson about keeping proof of postage a few months ago after selling on Thiefbay. I let receipts collect in my ashtray (I don't smoke) and every now and then I'll chuck em. I did this and lo and behold, they never received the item, I was up Poo creek without a paddle and cue a lecture from the Missus. Tis a shame it's got to this stage.
