close 22.
Bought my first ever mini (R1 project) october 2004 i think.
I have learnt everything I know, through teaching myself and asking people on here.
The people on this forum have helped me loads!

and now I have a group of like minded mates locally that i've met through the mini scene. We help each other out and it works really well.

But you must have some engineering background or something, as you seem to have a good understanding of the concepts of welding, and car mechanics, etc.

None at all. Not part of my job either.

Bought a welder for £50 and asked the guy what wire I need. Had some scrap metal i'd cut off the shell, had a little experimental practice, then just started.

That looks good. What is the size of the big timing cog nut. I need to get mine off to finish the strip down?

iv been at it again, im still building this engine slowly but surely. The other day i set to on the diff. After taking the calign off i had to undo the crownwheel bolts, i had a huge problem with these but eventually after a sleep and a bit of thought and a little less skin on my fingers, i got them undone.

and in went the competition diff pin, whioch was a little difficult trying to get everything lined up.

As from the pic u can just make out the big groove that was in the old diff pin, make me feel good thats iv changed this as with the extra power i dont think the old one would have lasted much longer
