Looked like a wet but fun weekend. Drove down the M1 after picking up the Mini from Guesswork's. Still had a few hours of our long and tiring journey home from our Scottish vacation to do so didn't make a suprise visit in the end. Great pics people ;D

I guess it's all in the timing then......
Got to the site about 1ish and drove in on dry grass, setting up the tent in the dry. Obviously got muddy boots and the umbrella got wet in the night but the tent was dry inside. Made the executive decision to leave Jake and Katie by the tents, (which we left up) rather than drive through the mud to our clubstand. Packed up about 1ish (in the dry with a dry tent) and drove across a little mud strip to get onto the exit road. By the time we got on the main road all the mud we picked up on the road was off and Jake is still clean!
The worst thing about MITP has always been the frantic rush in the morning to put away a damp tent and queue to get into the main site. Didn't have to do that this year so good news...and a lie-in!
I think that generally, the show really suffered from the weather but it would have been much, much worse at Cornbury with nothing to do but tramp round muddy stalls. If it had have been as hot and sunny as SMD it would have been an absolute corker of a show.
Just after we got home and unpacked.....it chucked it down!

couldn't be bothered to drive all the way home last night, so stayed with Rosie... fancy the petrol station running out of petrol?!?!?! how silly!

Glastonbury eat your heart out - was SSSSOOOOOO muddy... and fun to drive in...

Hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as possible...

After reading through everyones comments, it didn't really occur to me at the time - but why oh why was the tarmac not used??? You could have landed a small commercial jet in the space there and toilets were but 60 yards away from any direction.

Me and my brother (BROTHERS? NO FLUKING WAY!) decided before leaving to hit that empty tarmac and drive though the puddles to remove the worst of the mud before giving Sir D a wash down. As I said in the other thread about irate stewards - this guy came storming over and gave me a right knuckle rapping for my "need for speed". Not 5 minutes later, half a dozen more minis did the same thing - regardless of him standing by the puddles waving frantically. :- To top it off the racing minis then used it as a test bed to warm their engines up ;D .

Well what a fun weekend.

I was rubbish weather but I actually had a great time. Was great to meat some new people and see all the brothers that were there. (Amazing!)

I agree with the comments made, it would have been even better if the weather was good but I think we all made the most of it. Thought the camping area could have been bigger though. (Sorry to everyone for moving their tent pegs out the way ;D )

Oh yes and sorry to Minili for picking her up and throwing her into the middle of everyone for the introductions, was just being friendly! Honest :-

Cheers to Pie for the organising, it was good to see you mini.

Was great to get together with all the Admin and have a chat about forumy stuff.

Glad lots of you had a good time.

Charlie

we had a great weekend, i thought the rain was a nice change... once i got home lol we didnt set the tent up as it would have been a disaster waiting to happen. so we slept in my mini... with fixed seats= 2 hours sleep/shut eye!! came over to the TMF stand, only saw a few people there (rosewhite, screech, minili).

wasnt that jet engine soooo loud???

bought some black and silver plates for the new van, tempted to buy a slark head but was gone when i went back. probably my fav mini event ive been to, loved the 1/4 mile.

Was a little dissapointed really but mostly due to the weather! Emma was not happy that we had decided to take her car (Dougal) up for the weekend and was really annoyed when we were directed into a muddy field to park! However, Got away with it as when we got out of the car we had no mud splashes!! :-

Left about 1.30, as we were leaving there suddenly came a very high pitched squeal from the nearside front brake - had to stop to look and as I did a fella came over to say we were the 3rd mini he had seen stop for the same thing! The bloody stone guards failed their job in spectaular fashion and wedged a stone inbetween itself and the disc! - cleared it and drove home, no problems!! (Stone guard will be removed as soon as she'll let me get my hands on her car!!!)

Great to see everyone, sorry we didn't camp but we were offered a very nice comfortable bed in a heated house and a Chinese Takeaway for dinner!! Was only 15 mins from the venue so we took it! did think of you all in the wet muddy field as we were sat in, listening to music with hot food, Cider, Wine and Beer, in the warm and dry!! May camp next year though! ;D

Absolutely cracking fun despite the god awful weather and the Glastonbury'esque campsite. Everybody was still in good spirits so thats all that matters. Good to see some old and new faces. The show was ok but the ability to stand on the bank and watch the autograss and the racing on the strip was very good. I hope that it is there next year and we do get some nicer weather.

Oh and we won an award!! Cant believe nobody mentioned that.
