I've nearly finished the engine now! >_< Well I pretty much have! Just need to bolt on the timing cover, the crank pulley, and then when the engine is in the car I'll put the head on and the Weber.

I ended up getting a new Mpi timing cover after I split the one that was on the engine, this has the advantage that the breather is slightly squished, so will have a bit better clearance on that side. You can see the difference in breathers in this pic:

Then I fitted the Ultralite flywheel, with Steel backplate and orange diaphragm.

The other thing I've been working on over the past 3ish weeks is adpating the air filter backplate to fit the Weber, since they didn't have a filter for my specific Weber, thus requiring the modification. Initially I just riveted a plate over the backplate holes, then I was going to drill out the holes I needed to fit it to my carb, but this wasn't going so well. So, my next plan was to draw it up in CAD (recently switched from Inventor to Solidworks), and then get it CNC'd at work. This was going pretty well, til one evening I had pretty much finished drawing it up in Solidworks when my computer then crashed and I lost all that nights work!

After that I thought I'd just do it the quick way. Made a cardboard template of the backplate, screwed it to the carb and using a pencil lead on its side, did a rubbing to reveal where the carb mouths were. Now I just need to trace my cardboard template on to some sheet metal I have. Here's how it'll look when its all done:

Also sold my Curley dash, and a spare set of KAD vented brakes I had, so now I can afford to get me myself an ETB digidash! :dontgetit:

And Raz learnt about what a Weber does and how it works yesterday >_< She'll be on her way to making her own mini soon with all this knowledge she is cramming in :dontgetit:

Got some more work done tonight, after events conspired against me over the weekend I was determined to get the subframe in tonight.

So, went about getting out the inner wings, of course I had to do that about 5-6 different times, each time cutting a shade more off only to find it still wasn't enough. Then, just when I thought I was going to end up cutting the whole thing to bits, I got it fitted! :D And dam it looks sexy. At the moment its only held in by two tower bolts, going to get some high tensile bolts tomorrow, and some bolts for the floor mounts, which still need drilling through on the shell. But for now, feast your eyes on some more porn (can't wait to add the Nitrons - add the moment this is like regular hetrosexual porn, with the Nitrons it'll be high class lesbian porn!)

so where are the engine mounts then? do you have to fab them or is there an adaptor?

There is a plate, with a bit of tube welded to the end that goes on the clutch side, then there are two brackets which bolt directly to the block that bolts to the speedo housing, so you don't have the radiator bracket, or the engine mount on that side.

Quite eager to get the engine in place so I can see where the space is to stick a radiator!
