I also ground all teh lobes and the fuel pump and dizzy drive down on a spare camshaft so it is now just an oil pump jackshaft.
The transfer case has the part where the starter goes broken put i thinkit will still seal as it is. Do you think it will be ok?

I am at the dry build process now to workl out clearances etc.
so put the crank in and the rods, with pistons on as well. all went together smoothly and turns freely(no rings yet tho but will be fine as the mains and big ends are not binding at all)

placed head on top and problems began, some i knew were going to happen and some are new!!
1. exhaust valves on 2 and 4 hit the top edge of the cylinder wall - solution: will have "pockets" put in.(knew this might be the case)
2. all valves hit the pistons - solution: machine cutsouts into pistons (knew this anyway)
3. water pump fouls the bottom of the block - solution: grind away enough of water pump so it doesnt foul anymore, also take a bit of the end plate and end of head. (knew this but didnt realise the extent of material needed to remove from pump) Also will need to chop of the bypass and tap it and bung it as it is in the way aswell. will just drill a couple of holes in the thermostat for a bypass.

4. k1200 water outlet will still more than likely hit the alternator mounting hole on the water pump - 1. buy SC kit, 2. wait and see and maybe fab new mounts to lower the alternator a touch.
5. trial fitted the transfer case to see about the oil filler port, but the dry deck mod means the water outlet on the block is in the way of the mounting point for the filler port. - solution: fit the tappet chest cover, from the other side after hacking off breather tube, had laready done this in a ******* attempt at making my own oil drain thingy for the fuel pump hole. will have a pipe welded to the tappet chest cover and use that for the filler port, also grind away housing to allow water pipe to fit the water outlet on the block.(see pics fro more info)

6. pc just turned itself off in the middle of this post - slution: switch it back on,make cup of tea and choose "restore session"(firefox) and the post was all still here!!!!!!! god i love firefox .
7. oil drains from head seem very close to the tappet cover rim(snigger) - solution: will wait and see as to what fittings i can get, should be ok as the loacal hot rod shop does every fitting under the sun.

8. have also done a rough CR calc and think i will have about 10.5 CR but that depends on gasket and the size of the machined cutouts out of the pistons.(hoping for 2-3 cc's) again depending on the gasket i choose means i can vary the CR until i get the gasket that is!! can always get cheap-ish k100 HG for a thicker one, so will get a slightly thinner one from John at SC.
Think that is it for now. i have been painting stuff when i get baffled by a new problem so the block is done and now the cam cover aswell. semi-gloss black.(no bmc green available in the states)

What about the dizzy hole? Couple of bits of pipe attached to the cut off breather can so its over the flywheel and not at the front of the engine and so in the way of the TB's? If that makes sense
