But I'm going to be atleast 18 with 1 years no claims before its on the road. It'll be on limited milage aswell as it won't be my main car.
Shouldn't be too bad, if it is, I can always keep it in the garage until I can insure it. But I'll worry about that later on.. lol

Going to strip down my old engine, and get it ready for machining (rebore +020).

Picked up a complete turbo engine today. Was fairly expensive at nearly £400 especially seeing as its knocking, but it came with everything, intercooler, oil cooler etc and an MBE cylinder head..

Will be using my pistons and turbo to build one decent engine..

Since then, there has been absolutely no progress! Due to a number of other cars needing more important work and buying another Mini to do up (mistake, but its now sold). This year we have built another race car and my race car has had a fair bit of work so I've had no time for this project.
Well, racing is now finished for the year, my other Mini is off the road for winter, and all the other cars in the household don't need any work- so finally I have time again to play with my little clubman.
Going to make a start this weekend, after the garage has a proper tidy..

Ok, after looking at the 'ring pics, I'm gunna give myself just under a year to complete this project so it can take me to Nurburgring 2006..

The plan:
1275 MG turbo engine, with series 2 rst intercooler, dump vavle. special turbo head, maybe sc drops. Engine will probably be rebuilt.
Small amount of welding- o/s door hinge + door step, o/s rear window and ofcourse bulkhead box.
Full respray, in probably the same / similar colour, with arches blended in.
Refurb wheels.
Rear safety devices cage + harnesses.
So, all that by sept '06:cool:
Budget £1000-£1500... :fear:

Engine spec has changed, and the "small" amount of welding is now a full blown restoration.
Realistically speaking, to have the car completely finished by bh2n 2007 is very doubtful.. September always seems to come round quick

Progress has been exceptionally slow as I've had a lot of other projects and had kinda lost interest with the Mini. But I'm trying to push forward and get it done now.
I did a fair bit of work in 2007 fitting a new floor pan, A post, sills, rear hinge panel, the bits under the rear lights & boot floor. Turbo box. And a few other bits chopped out and welded in.
2009/10, finished the underside, fitted new NS A post cover and fitted the rear valence. Rebuilt rear subframe.
Unfortunately after I finished the underside, I painted it all in Hammerite. When the stone chip paint was sprayed on to it , it all reacted

2011, fitted new rear 1/4 panel and painted the underside and engine bay.

2012 - Fergot about this car for a bit, and then last weekend I fitted the front end (well, alligned it all up and tacked into position).

One thing I've never been sure about this car; is the exact model type - whether it's a Clubman or 1275 GT (the Log book just say's Manufacturer: Morris, with the model type left blank).
Doing a bit of research, and it seems after decoding the VIN, it is actually a 1275 GT.

Now I know this, I would have been half tempted to return it to original; but as I don't have any of the original GT parts, I'm going to carry on with the modified retro look.

Also you know 10" wheels are cooler!
