im gonna be watching this one carefully, 71 is the year of my Bean! mine had been reshelled into an 80's shell with all the nasty line of sight parts and grey and brown interior.... lol i was goiong to go for old english with black roof too, but as you can see, tweed grey tempted me for a real retro look! liking the mk1 styling of yours, hope thats staying, and i hope that checkerplate dash is going.... lol

Good luck!

Got your work cut out, but it's do-able..

Unlike my mates mini he bought

http://public.fotki...._cars/the-mini/

None of the pictures show it, but you know when you take out the headlining, there's sort of a strengthening bar that runs round the inside of the roof seams?

The whole thing crumbled in my hand

Thanks for all of your positive comments, so far I'm very pleased with the progress and the way its coming apart/slowly going back together.

The more I do to it the more I want to do it(if that makes sense)

At the moment I'm toying with Idea of removing the engine subframe so I can properly repaint the engine bay and frame!!

However once the engine is out I know I would want to pull it apart to give a a freshen up and some new bits!!

Where do you stop?!!!!

Oh well who needs spare cash anyway.

I do have other tools, if you look closely at one the pic you will see an air chisel, i use this for the delicate jobs!!!

Actually looking at the state of the toebard, it would prob come out with the grinder!! :D

Heh heh heh!!!

I have been quite well behaved really!!

Only had to use the grinder to dig out the filler in the drivers footwell!!

I'm sure the passengers side is gonna be worse!!

It almost looks like a mini again(well until i rip the passengers side out anyway!!)

Hi, I haven't updated for a while(because I have been lazy and not done much!!)

To be honest the problem was that I really wasn't happy with the drivers door post and eventually decided to rip it all off and start again!!

So once i'd done this i got some interest back into it.

I have welded in the driver floor pan.

Repaired the inner flitch.

Attached File  spudnik_039.jpg   327.48K   126 downloads

Found more rust!!

Aligned the drivers door.

Really thats been about it.

Just for laughs heres the pile of rusty bits I have removed, might put them on Ebay as "Project car - needs assembly!!!)

Top job seamus. I have heard that mouse wee eats panels..Hope the traps work. If not, you could attack with your grinder. If I tried a project like yours the end result would be a car that drove in about eight different directions.

Keep going. It will be great to see it finished.

Very nice work  How do you align the doors? I have just put mine back on and they hit the latch and don't close unless I slam it.
