........I thought we wasnt going to mention your nasty rash Charlie......... >_< I hope your 'visitors' have gone.

We were discussing shaving clubman katies ears yesterday as they looked a bit furry around the outside. I wanted to pluck them out - but he wouldnt let me >_<

I am not the best person to advise on how to shave as I have only been clean shaven twice since 1990 and I have only wet shaved once in my life. But if you want to know how best to get round the shaving rash and painfull after affects of applying the wrong balm, there are experts out there who can recomend products perfect for your type of skin and the best way to access this knowledge is to go and get yourself a proper shave at a barbers it might cost but its well worth it. and im not talking you local barbers im talking specialists.

such as.

www.gentlemans-shop.com/acatalog/barber_shop.html

you will note that the shaving consultation is £15 and the shave is £20

not cheap but likely to make a world of difference.

Rodders.

The more you shave the more it does grow and quicker.

This is really a myth that a lot of people believe. Cutting or shaving your hair will not make it grow faster or thicker. The width of your hair shaft is genetically determined, as is the length of your anagen, or hair growth cycle, and the only way to affect this is through hormone treatment. If you want to know more: sciencey stuff

Thats what i've been learning in college, thats why waxing slows it down because it takes longer for the cycle and the hair to form again.

I used to get quite bad shaving rash, until about 10 years ago when I tried Cariad shaving oil, I have not looked back since!

I always shave in the bath, splash face with water and then a few squirts of this left on for 5 mins, always iuse a good sharp razor though. Always used gillete myself.

You can keep going over the same spot just keep wetting your face, lasts for ages and I shave evry other day, tesco sell it as do asda I think, king of shaves do 1 but have never tried it.

Give it a go, I was dubious at first.

Waxing doesn't slow it down, it just removes more/all of the hair follicle which and so requires more time to regrow to a visible length. Shaving by contrast only cuts the hair down to, at best, be level with the skin: so any regrowth is immediately visible.

i gotta say that this thread makes me a bit jealous.... i'm 20 and grow really poor facial hair.... i could go for a week and a half without shving and look fine.... when i do leave it it grows in all patchy like and looks like i'm an adolescent boy sprouting his first facial hairs.... this sucks cause i really badly want a huge beard to match my hair.... haha i guess those that haveit dont want it ad vice versa..... Oh! and shaving more frequently definitely doesnt make it grow quicker...

Ha! I love random topics like this!

I get bad shaving rash and it grows back really quick. . . and its a tad ginger and I have blonde hair >_< Lovely!

When I was younger (listen to me, I am only 23 now  ), my beard grew slow enough that if I was going out Friday night I used to shave Thursday so the rash was gone before beer time. Then I just sort of stopped bothering and went for the manly stubble look via a stupid goaty. I am currently in the third week of my anti-shaving solo effort. It keeps my face warm whilst outside. Just a shame I can't keep my nose warm!
