yeah... he's only going on the rollers if he's running well by the 26th.

Ace, thanks ethel... I didn't really want to spend the £60 if i had to get him sorted again after wards

Does he have many go faster bits?

Does his timing chain rattle...

Be worthwhile giving the engine a quick once over beforehand - tappets, put a strobe on the ignition to check it's steady 'n the advance works.

He's got a stage one, but that's it. Other than that... he's standard. :)

He was rolling roaded back in October, just before I bought him. However, his clutch was on the way out then, so I'm not entirely sure if he made it through OK, or if anything was done!

But he's been playing up a bit with idling... he'll want to stall if the revs drop quickly. If I pull up to a stop at traffic lights, he'll try to cut out.

put a strobe on the ignition to check it's steady 'n the advance works.

Erm  Eh?

the point I'm making is that rolling roads are expensive places to sort faults. You should be able to set him up to idle properly without a roller session. Anyone in your local Mini crew that can tune him up and give him a health check?

Possibly ... if I'm nice to them! :w00t:

I'm still undecided on the actual tune-up, to be honest. He'll be going on a power-run, because we've got a session booked .... so maybe i'll just get that for £20 :w00t:

Plan!: :(

Get problems sorted before the 25th

Take to southam

Take to Bingley

Put into bodyshop to get rust on front panel and ickle wickle bit under headlights removed

Put into garage til April - Will be able to sort him out with some new interior bits and bobs then

Show him off in Summer :)

Sound OK ? :D

I have to be honest though... I tried having him as a daily driver. And as much as I want to have a mini as a daily car, I just can't do it it him! :errr: I've noticed the effects of winter already on Reggie, and I don't like it! :D It's breaking my lickle heart to see his seams split, because I know something will get underneath and the he'll rust.... :w00t:

So, he's gonna be a summer car, I think.

This is exactly what I was thinking with Lily. Ive only had her for a year, and driving her through winter, the bumpers and overriders are now brown (not too worried about these, as they can be easily replaced), but theres little bits of rust coming thorugh. At the front of her front wheel arches, its starting, and theres a bit on her A panel thats getting worse. Shes going to the bodyshop soon though to have a couple of things done, so im gonna see if I can get it all done at once.

Have you got another car?

It used to be my lickle pride and joy... but it's been stood for a bit now. :D

So need to get that battery charged and give it a bit of a service. Tis taxed and MOTd, so just need to arrange the insurance as and when.

I've just looked at Reggie's face and he's got worse in 2 days! :dontgetit: He's bloody bubbling, now! :D

So, the bodywork is a definite, because it's made me all sad to see him with an ickle bubble :P

I've been to the garage, and they're going to ring me with a price at 5pm ish...

I've asked them to take the seams back to metal and re-seal the wings under the headlights. To plate (with metal, not fibreglass) the front panel. Then re-spray, then re-lauquer...

gonne be pricey, isn't it? ;)

Stupid thing is... I've just taken him up there... he's working absolutely fine today! :P Started first time and is running well. The electrics all work and the engine doesn't die when you put the wipers on!

Silly Reggie, minis are very weird, they change whats the matter with them from day to day! Dunno what it could be technically! Theres someone on Breathemini whos having the same problem with the idling!!

Thats horrible about the bubblin, dunno if I need the same doing to Lily, under her headlights, it still looks pretty sealed, but is starting to crack slightly, so I dunno how long it will be ok til. I want to try and get everythin sorted as soon as it starts, so it never gets chance to get bad.

yeah, that's why I'm getting this done now, whilst I've got the money. Some people think I'm being too picky! :D

But this is all he's got body-wise... and I want to stop it before it gets worse.

And hopefully if the interview goes well this afternoon... I'll have the money to spend on the interior, too! :P :dontgetit:

Why does winter hit them so hard, so quick? :(

Oh - and incase anyone was worried... (i know one person was :P)

Reggie is NOT going to be kept in a garage for most of the year and only bought out from July-September! :D

Reggie is my daily driver :P

He will be used from about march/april ... up until october/november. I just don't want him to get the effects of the main chunk of winter, that's all! ;)

the cracks could be caused by a front subframe mount going/gone/loose which is moving the wings etc that lil bit to crack the paint, might want to get underneth wit a prybar and check them before they get worse,, i'd put money on it being the rears that bolt up to the front bulkhead near the sterring-rack

I'm going to check them out for the exhaust problem, too... :D

Will be underneath the car when there's a dry half hour... need to have another look at the exhaust, so I'll take the opportunity to look at the subby mounts then, too :D

thanks ;)

I know its horrible. My boyfriends mini started going there at first, now its on the drive rotten, and needs fully restoring. It will cost you more in the end, if you need the whole front replacing, so you my as well get it done as soon as it starts. Im pretty lucky, my stepdad is nuts about cars, and the day I brought Lily home he fell in love with her! (Id come home from college, and he'd be fiddling with her!), so he agrees with me 100% that she needs to keep nice, so hes paying for Lily to be sorted as my christmas and birthday present.

Good Luck in the interview!!
