I did an A Panel, too! :)

I've drilled out a lot of the spot welds on the other side, and removed a lot of gumpf that was in my way on both ... and removed the shock mount (which hasn't rusted through - Whoop!), and removed more of the loom.

Besides - I was being careful! :) And - look at the little amount of space that I had to work in, on the driver's side, lol. I was mostly wedged against the garage door, with all the spiders! :)

It's not that bad, no - But as you say - I did think that he'd had all this work done. But then, Chris wasn't too happy with the bodyshop that did it & I wasn't happy with the quality of work that mine did - So who knows. I guess it can deteriorate quite quickly, over 3 1/2 years, if it's not done properly in the first place?

The inner wing is bothering me though.

Today's been a great day so far! :)

Bought the world's most expensive spot weld drill bit & ran out of gas in those stupid little bottles, just as I had set everything up.

Gah! :) :)

Oh well - At least I have my drill bit - I'm off to see Reggie after I've scoffed some potato salad :P

Looks like you're having some fun there Bean!

Get youself off to BOC and sort out a bottle rental. If you've a lot to do it will work out much cheaper.

Drop me a PM if you need details

Regards

Steve

Photos! >_<

I spent aaages removing the front panel:

Nice and neat - leaving the other wing on.

However - As much as I wanted to save the wing, the edges had become very, very thin. They had rotten through slightly on the arch lip and where the wing met the front panel was in a bit of a state, too.

So I made the decision just to lop it off!! :P

Took me 2 minutes, lol :) Why didn't I just do it like that before? lol

So, Reggie has no face!!

... I am now also sporting a bright red, rather painful blood blister on my palm

Owwie!

My blister hurt :)

Engine will be out very soon though - I don't like the look of the pallet that he's sitting on, so the sooner he's off it, the better.

Found more rot on the inner wing today, near the air vent. It's not very bad and most of it is in tact, there's just some small holes up in the very top corner.

Good job it did though :mrcool:

You were lucky!, I think.... The impact broke the magnet off the end of the sump plug! :s I'm pretty sure though that it hasn't done any damage! It seems to have stuck to the strainer and not floated round the box.

Gears and synchros look good on first inspection (although the garage light isn't fantastic, so i'll check in the light tomorrow) and i only lost 3 of the detent springs! :P Naah, I caught 'em :-

Just waiting on one to put all this into then!

and before anyone asks, no, it wasn't actually IN Reggie at the time. It's a low mileage used box that has a slightly better layshaft and gearset then the TWO that Jean has managed to break!!
