I can most certainly garentee its a Type R.

I've not heard it running yet, but the chap said he can see if it still starts. It was decleared off the road about 3 months ago, and its sat in his lockup since. He's paid the insirance to keep it, as he also wanted to put the engine into his Mini, but jst hasn't got the time, and now the winter is here, hes wants rid to put his pride n joy in the garage

So its a worthy buy to get then for £600?

Any ideas on cost of a FWD frame?
or would it be easier to go RWD with these engines?

I dont know anything about the fwd US subframe im affraid, i thinks its minitec that makes it though.

Dont think it would be easier to go rwd but the parts are by far more avalible off the shelf for rwd

are they very tall engines?? not sure, you might have to mod the bonnet or stick the engine lower or inclined

Thanks, but I think I'll get the frame thats in the Civic atm, and see what butchering I can do to it first.

When I go to have a nose, is there anything I should need to look out for, other than the obvious?

1. Check the engine number, I suspect as a couple of other have, is that its a K20 engine, which off the shelf subframes are very limited.

2. Might as well sell on Ebay for what most think will be a big profit. Even sell to Chris at Z Cars, I'm sure he'll know some people that will want one, and I think he sells them for £2.5k.

3. Buy a B16 or B18 or even B20 variant Honda engine (£250-800) (or Type R would be £1500), then buy an off the shelf B16/18/20 subframe package.

Job done, no money lost!

dog if it is a K20 engine and you decide not to carry on with it i can be down to yours in under an hour waving 600 pound notes in your face to reimburse you

Im a Civic lover...

First off, Make sure this guy is legit, So so so many of these cars go missing, stripped down, and are never ever seen again. Having a stolen engine is never a good thing!

If it is a K20 lump with all the stuff needed to run it, Id suggest buying it, and selling it on, you WILL make a tidy profit.

then as Jammy says, Buy a B16 if you want simple effective Honda power!

But i would think B18/B20/K20 in a mini would be massive overkil!


For abit more info on K20'n a Mini, There is a scottish chap called Gerry on Civicsportsclub.net that is currently doing just this, Might be worth asking him etc.

Its all legal, known the chap for a while now.

Might do Jammys idea, means I can vertually get a Vtec Mini for £600

Anyways... went to see the engine tonight, and the engine number does have K20 in with in it. Sounds nice, reved up well, with a mashed exhaust it sounded swwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeettttttt!
