Iron Maiden's style isn't death or blood or anything like slipknot actually. They play decent Heavy Metal and sing about allsorts... the last album is about warfare & military... Iron Maiden invented modern British Heavy Metal but unfortunately the 'newer' crappy bands like avenged sevenfold, fall out boy, my chemical romance style themselves on Maiden and that 'culture' to try make it look they're as good as them, when they aren't.

If you take the time to listen to some Maiden (anything from the first album - released in 1980 >_< - to the latest one released last year) and compare it to the other tripe that infests the 'metal' scene you'll soon see what I mean.

Well to say greebo's seem to all look the same and can even be identified as a 'Greebo' the definition "do not follow a trend" is a bit ironic. I don't mind people being all into stuff different from me as long as they're genuine about it it pisses me off when they all look the same and are just fakes.

Well it depends if you identify someone who wears a band shirt as 'following a trend'! I wear band tshirts all the time but I don't hang about with groups of 'greebos' nor do I wear the shirts because I want to be like everyone else in that culture... I wear em 'because I love the band! As in genuinely love the band, not just listened to one CD but probably got them all and seen them live loads of times!

I agree though the gangs of them that hang around the city centres sporting big useless silver chains, make-up and very stupid hairdo's really do my head in. Those types though usually listen to the emo bands I listed up there ^^^ and wouldn't know what true, proper metal was if it hit them in the face and handed them a leaflet saying "I'm proper metal".

A greebo is a person who listens to rock/punk/metal music and doesn't follow fashion trends.
They don't usually class themselves as being a greebo but are assigned that title by trendies/rudes. Some of them may look quite threatening but generally they are all around nice people and they resist starting fights or arguments with people who do follow trends. However, if you were to ask one if they had anything against trendies or rude boys their answer would seldom be 'no'. Almost all Greebos have some kind of disliking towards trendies mainly because they make their lives hell. Abuse is hurled at them when they walk down the street and they frequently get the C**p beaten out of them for absolutely no reason other than the fact that they are different.
Greebos also seem to be fairly itelligent people if not it one way, they are bound to be intelligent in another, this may contribute to why greebos rarely start fights with trendies and rudes, because they are intelligent enough to know that it wont solve anything.
Greebos are alternative people who just want to be treated fairly.

What a load of twodle!!

I listen to punk/rock/metal and DONT follow fashion trends.

Just because i listen to a type of music, and dress how i want/feel, as in baggy jeans, and tshirts (not all in black) im labelled as a "greebo"!! I have heard the term before, and there was a punk-rock band back about 5 years ago called "Greebo" who were very good.

Emo's are people who "write poems" and dress all in black, have a "zelda cut" (swpet hair over one eye)

Actually this kinda reminds me of a song, im sure Mighty_mini would agree;

We talked about greebos (greebs) when I was in upper school... say 2000-2003 >_<

There were loads of them! Went through a phase myself... :withstupid:

I thought the phrase had died out, they seemed to split into Emos and Goths. Goth was a much harsher term even a few years ago when I was at school! There are people calling themselves goths now who would have never got away with it back in the early noughties :dontgetit:

No don't take it the wrong way I introduced (or shall I say set the record straight) Iron Maiden to prove they AREN'T a 'trend'. They INVENTED the genre which has pioneered most of today's metal and rock.

Anyway I can't wait to see them at Wacken 2008 in Germany and hopefull Sheffield or Manchester :withstupid: :dontgetit:
