Chris, i must admit, Trivium, from a musicians point of view, are awesome. I never listened to them when they first came to be known, even though i "aquired" their album. But started listenign to them recently and they are really good.
Are you having a laugh? Yes their guitar work is great but it's blatently ripped off from other, more successful bands. You can usually tell a lot about a metal band from the kind of crowd they attract. When we saw them live the only people giving a toss were a group of 12 year old kids down at the front in a moshpit. Everyone else was rolling their eyes because they know what a

Chris, one thing though, if bands didnt take inspiration/influences from other bands, or idolise them in similar ways, then there would be no bands/genres etc. Bands like Greenday (i hate them) but they inspire new bands.
I know what your saying, its annoying when 12 year olds are "moshing". I went and saw Blink182 in 2004 at their last ever UK show, and there were 12 year olds "moshing" to the song "i miss you"!!!!!

I know what you mean, obviously a band can't possibly survive without inspiration but Trivium really do just rip off other bands! You like em, that's fine, no problem but seriously do you realise how much they're ripping off other bands? Maiden took influence from Sabbath and other very early rock/metal like deep purple but they sound nothing like them because they have enough talent to create their own "sound" - Trivium don't. Anyone can learn to play songs after a few years of practice but it takes a real musician to *create* music from basically nothing. I respect your opinion though but seriously Trivium will not be around in 10 years let alone 30!

Yeah trivium are are right set of bendersOh by the way a band which REALLY gets my goat is one called Trivium. They rip off Metallica, Megadeth, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden so much I can't believe it. They actually supported iron maiden in 2006 (god knows why) and the copied riffs and solos were just unbelievable. Worst thing is they act like they've been around for decades when in reality it's only about 4 or 5 years.
