Great mini you've got there!! I have a 1977 mini 1000 in what looks to be a bit darker than almond green and has a white roof. Yours does look smart in that type blue. It looks like from your pics and video you have a dtm exhaust on the car. Sounds brilliant, i also have one but doesn't sound anywhere near as good as yours. Is it straight through from manifold to the backbox. And if not is it legal to do this as i wanted my mini sounding louder than it is?

yup, dtm with 3inch exits :P streight through pipe from manifold.

not sure on its legality tho... it passed mot and ive had my fair share of police cars behind me and they havent said anything... but that doesnt mean its legal.

i wont be doing anymore long journeys with it on tho, my head was pounding yesterday coming back from yorkshire :P

I just realised that you have bonnet pins on your bonnet. They look cool! I was thinking of getting some for mine as it's easier to remove the bonnet therefore giving more room to work on the engine. How have you mounted yours? Hasn't a bracket or piece of metal got to be welded to the inside of the engine bay and then mount the bonnet pin to that, and drill holes in bonnet etc?

yep, you need triangles or a strip of metal to mount the bolt to the car

does make life alot easier ! mines a carbon fibre bonnet too which is nice and light! ;D

Spent monday evening reconditioning tuktuk's cylinder head with him. We remove the springs, valves, oil steam seals etc and began to decoke the head. Once the chambers and inlet/exh ports were cleaned and decoked, we cleaned the valves and started the main jobs. We recut the valve seats, checked the guides and then lapped in all the valves. Once the valves were done, we fitted new oil stem seals and refitted the springs etc.

This was all done to solve a intermitant smoking problem. The smoke would come and go with no relation to revs or speed. The compression was good so it was the only thing we could do without a full strip of the engine.

After refitting, it seems to have cured the problem so far. More miles on the belt will tell us for sure, but all seems good. We have pictures which i will upload later.
