*slight deviation* If I may say so this little thread will probably have done more good for police-public relations than all the government PR guff ever spouted. I know we have serving officers on tmf but they are here primarily because they are mini enthusiasts. MikeN may not give a toss privately about our funny little cars but he is treating us like adults in a genuine and (in my experience) unusually intelligent attempt to reunite someone with their property. Cool.
Like the man said!! be great if more forces took note too!

That sounds like a reply from a man in the job!I assuming you have search of any similar cars through PNC? I cant imagine there are than many minis matching this description than have been stolen recently? Was an offender caught for stealing the vehicle?
I have searched PNC, and there are not too many that match the description. However, I don't know when it was stolen or where it was stolen from.
I can't go into the details of the job unfortunately but I will try and keep you up to date.
One last point, I wont be able to monitor all the forums that this gets posted on so if someone hears something then please contact me via the e-mail address given earlier.

Lol that obvious is it. ha ha. The only real thing i can think of to help narrow down the year of manufacture for the mini is checking some parts, for example the lock on the bootlid is stamped with the date is was made. Im sure there are other parts on the mini that are stamped in the same way. Although this wont give a exact year of manufacture/registration as a boot lock could have been made 6 months before the car was built I suppose. However by getting several of these dates it should help you narrow down the possible year of manyfacture/registration for the car to within 3-4 years I suppose. And given that there are not to many cars matching this description on PNC it will narrow the list of possible owners considerable I should think.
