You should wire something into your drivers seat so that you get a warning shock and also your DVD player so this pops up

Oh god yes. Just the chorus even on a wired in voice box would be enough.

Damn it. Oil leaking out of the diff housing, the speedo dropped to nothing after becoming incredibly shakey on an 8 mile fuel run to town and back, the pot joints look toughly half an inch out from the diff housing. That and just discovered the steering rack gater is shredded.. they didn't exactly last long either.

Update: checked the dash speedo connector and that seems fine, managed to pop the flipping rubber grommet out while I was at it :goaway: . Curiously the sound it made when the speedo dropped to nothing seems to be inside the car almost..... one can hope.

After some consulting I'm under the impression the oil weeping isn't too much of an issue, but it may well be caused by the lower engine stabiliser. Shame really, the engine was rock solid with it in.

The speedo cable has been tested and works fine - it slipped off the back of the speedo clock - had the dash out and it's given me the opportunity of replacing the Volts clock bulb at last.

Typically curious following the parasitic earth problem I decided to wire the fog lights back in. All worked fine.. until the CD Player, Indicators, Interior light and Alarm LED stopped working - all pointing to Fuse C4 / C6 and Fusible link 1. I think my faffing round with the earth point annoyed it.

Going to change that out again tonight and clean up the front wheels as they're off the car. Need to buy some Flash Lemon as well.

Flash Lemon?

So no issues with the diff or speedo drive then? Just the cable at clocks end? That's a relief!

Yeah I've re-organised the cable route as well tso it's much easier to get to... given most of my time was spent wrestling it over the injection manifold. Yup Flash Lemon.. with no bleach for the leather seats. Well overdue in clean prepping for L2B now.

Update! Found the culprite:

The interior light loom was pressing against the bulkhead from behind squashed by the door stay. Enough squashing ensured a nice short. SirD got a full set of brand new Maxi Fuses and a total check over of all the blade fuses out of it.

Oh...and another dash removal. O_O I think he just likes getting his insides tickled. :whistling:

Update - last time SirD will be without coach lines for a few solar orbits. Off to the body shop tomorrow to have them done properly:

Rear window cappings have come back today as well, matching the depth and texture of the dash. Far better than the sun and water damaged look I sent them off with. Amazing what a good re-lacquer can do.

Looking good - while I was hoping to have this all wrapped up by lunchtime to start packing for L2B, the body shop got stuck with the length of each stripe and wanted to make sure I would be happy with the outcome. Looks spot on as far as I'm concerned.
