Post France update:
France was for the most part a complete success but not without it's mechanical issues. Notably the NS front bearing causing brake burn.

This hub was suspect from the start of the restoration, while the bearing was seated, it wasn't by any means a worry-free state and in hindsight, I should have bought a new hub then. This and the servo feels like it's not holding a vacuum for long enough - the brakes are nice at the top of the pedal, then about half an inch down you push over a lip, with a sudden change in engine revs from the vaccum hose, back to very solid brakes. This and the brake light switch has taken a beating from the heater intake pipe.
The priority sits with the hubs, bearings and CV replacement depending on condition, and I may just replace both sides for the sake of a refresh.
In the meantime, SirD needs going over with a toothcomb from France for any other issues, a full fluids replacement (having breached the 3000 miles mark while away) and a good clean.

After:

Need to get some pipe insulation for the forward most shelves, just incase I try doing a burnout on the way into the garage. Vast improvement I have to say.

While I really appreciate Mini Mag's news pages allowing a spot, I wasn't all that happy about the overdone editing - key facts were missed out entirely, and the article would have done far better on a full page. Most here know full well there's more than 2 Knighty's in the UK for starters. Best in a full blown article about the car, but that's another story... hopefully.

Well the French trip saw the hub out after only 3000 miles on a new bearing, also ended up with a scuffed flange

Sir D is otherwise in good health - slight grumble on the idle, and pending a new air intake pipe for the heater. Will be driving a groom to his wedding this Sunday, so more photos from there when they pop through the emails.
Stay tuned!

Anyway slight update here since the wheel bearing - a wedding I did in August. Early morning about to set off:

To the service:

At the folly:

Sadly SirD is stuck in the garage while I'm in University, hoping to take him out once a month weather dependant.

- Speedo cable has been replaced (again), turns out the top section had snapped inside the cover. Hadn't even done 10 miles
- MOT pass for the second year running with no faults or recommendations.
- Refitted the heater air intake pipe and cut a small section out to avoid the brake switch. Fits perfectly now.
- I err.... changed the oil!
Other than that, SirD's been sheltering for most of the winter while I've been at Uni. In the meantime, the Clubman Estate had an unwanted passenger. After trying to find it and a rear hardboard bin liner being eaten, 30 minutes after a trap was place, this little fellow was promptly removed:

Nice to get him out of the way... the eater of British Leyland's best.
