This thread is very apt, as today i got Id-ed buying petrol!!!

I was not aware there was a minimum age for buying petrol but apparently i look younger than it.

I'm quite young looking, but get ID'd ALLLL the time.

2 notably bad experiences:

1- Going into 'Spoons, being ID'd for an orange juice.
2- Petrol station, 7am and I'm the only person on the forecourt - in my old Astra. Full tank, go into pay... "ID please?" ... ummm. You have to be sixteen to buy petrol, seventeen to drive a car ... and I'm 20. What you gonna do if I am 15... syphon it out?!

So I’m not the only one that gets ID’d when buying petrol, although I always use the same garage in town 90% of the time, would have thought by now they would recognised me.

And I also get ID’d a lot during the day during school term days In town or around the city centre, as apparently I don’t look 22 and should instead be back at school.

Yaay... i'm not the only one who lives in a town where it seems, idiots run the pumps. :techsupport: I also got id'd when i was 18- or so, for buying fuel in a petrol station i had driven to. Not to mention it was in the mini, which you thought would attract attention, and i parked at the 'cashier' side of the station... some people are such numpties! - we shud start a club for them ;D

I was also offended when i got id'd for buying a can of spray paint for which you have to be 16, therefore implying i looked 15? .... i'm 20 at the mo :D

I cant beat this but when I was doing my basic training in the army (22 at the time), I got to go home for a long weekend at week 6. Mum kindly took me down to the local shop (I say localm but about 3 miles away) and I went to buy beer and the lad Id'ed me. The only Id I had was my army ID card as my driving licence had to be sent away. Anyway, he wouldn't accept it. So I went back out to the car and mum went in to get it for me after a bit of a chuckle. When she was in there, she asked the lad how old he was. He said 18 two days ago! The little weasel! I very nearly went back in to say something. I was not impressed.

I have also been Id'ed for tobacco at 22. Before you had to be 18 to buy it.

P.S. I don;t smoke, it was for someone in the famiy.

you will get ID'ed if you look under 21 and buy a glass of water in pubs after 9pm. Because you have to be over 18 to be in there. They aint actually ID'ing you to serve you a soft drink, its to see if your supposed to be in the bar.

I have only ever been ID'd once in my life, that was in Tesco but to be fair i had been 18 for about 2 days so its fair enough.

I went in to tesco once after work in my police uniform and got asked for ID to prove I was 18 when I went to buy a bottle of wine, and I was 24 then!!. She didn't believe me that you have to be 18 1/2 to join North Wales Police.

What a muppet!!

Its a funny story.

When I used to borrow my brothers driving liscence (shhh) to go out, they used to ask me for ID, take a look it and never flinch. I was 17, and my brothers 21.

Once I turned 18 and started using my OWN, they question me about it all the time, saying they dont think its mine!

Haha, got to laugh really.

Maybe they're wondering why your age went down from 21 to 18 :D
