LOL I tried all that to start with And the elbow grease set me right back!

The piston is moving up and down nicely, I thought it could have been that, So cleaned it all up, and rubbed it over with some emmery cloth to smooth it?

I thought maybe an air leak?

are you talking about mini's now or is this some strange kind of humour

forgive me, as im not quite sure

emery cloth is way too abrasive ! do you have a polishing wheel to buff it up ?

this is one of the more sensible moments - dont worry, it'll pass fairly quickly and we'll degenerate into something fairly stoopid.

Ah sssshh-it. You joking? It was only light! I did the inside of the dash pot..And the piston a bit...

What oil are you using in the dashpot?

Erm the stuff its always used, Cant remember I think its some castrol stuff.
I wasn't emery cloth. It was wet and dry..like 1500-2000

Ok then, if the piston rises and falls freely(i use 2 stroke oil in the dashpot)

Are there any leaks in the vacuum pipes?

And insulting your intelligence!!! Is the throttle cable sticking?

Have you pulled a plug out to see how shes running?


Failing that how about an insurance job?

Currently it doesn't have a vacuum advance on it... Problem? Insurance...It doens't have any atm! As its not on the road.
Throttle cable is all sweet..And its firing good as its revving high! Just so you get an idea of high...I have a straight through 2" system, and its so loud it blew the bulb in my garage...I think its reving near 3-4K LOL

You've clearly ruined the mini now ! I'll give to 100 quid for it

dont panic ! its probably an easy fix - shifty's right though, check that your cable isnt binding, and your pedal assy - and even the butterfly on the carb. may just be the remainder of the cable fouling on the butterfly mechanism perhaps ?

Hmm, Checked the fouling issues. How much should the idle screw be down sort of on average?

Disconnect all the cables any try it?

One question I haven't asked, did it do it before you changed the needle?

Yea did the same before needle change...Which is originally why i changed it, as i thought it was dropping due to a lack in fuel...thus changed to a AAU...
