Its illegal because his car is too young to have black plates.

Good project mate coming along nicely!

Because it breaks all sorts of rules! These kinda of plates are only allowed if your car is registered before 1972.

I haven't run into any problems with my rear plate since I've had that on and as far as I'm aware ever since the existing plate on the front (square stick on) hasn't had any problems either. Just a bit worried with the MOT man but I'll take it to a mini friendly garage :xmas:

New front stick on plate will match the back perfectly :).

Dez just the bloke I was after, will I need different brace bars if I'm going to use the hinges you've got?

Brilliant! Dad is going to order the front flip tomorrow from ABS and I should be well on my way!

Dez do you want to get the hinges packaged up now? I get paid the day after Christmas and I can assure you I'll be buying your hinges as soon as possible :dontgetit: I just don't want to cause you hassle closer to Christmas! Depends how long your local postie shuts for though.

Yup :dontgetit: & don't forget the rear MK1 lights that should be welded in some time in the new year!

Thinking about asking for a boot board kit for Christmas too, but a proper one not a shabby home made one, my attempt failed >_<

I've seen a mini across on Turbo Minis with red tops to his MK1 rear lights, I understand they are Japanese Exports and not easy to get hold of?

Looking good

Loving the numberplates, going to be doin the same myself, but i saw on carbonweezel he does some where the black is carbon (100%) so i'll be seeing how the price differs. Also a tip, i would have had 4 digits on right and 3 on left so it looks like a C reg, if your going illegal might aswell go all the way :)

Doing the same with the front flip, think i'll be doing mine round the same time as you, hopefully you'll go first so i can steal all your tips lol. I thought the same about the brace bars, think (could be wrong) that you have to somehow bend the tops of them to mount elsewhere as the hinges get in the way.

Chris :shifty:

P.S. the mini in your last photo is ace! so mean looking if you get what i mean.

Jameswildcooper has some of these all red mk 1 lights that he was going to fit to his other project mini, but a change of plan means he still has them. I think he would sell them. I'm sure he said they were american spec lights, from america. I'll ask him.

Haha, nah the brace bars will be okay! I'm buying a new 2nd hand set (confusing ) of the American style hinges and he's got a picture of them trial fitted to his mini, they clear with no problems.

I'd only need the top section though, but yeah if he's willing to split I'd have them off him! want to text me his number, or give him mine?

:) lol thanks.

Just spoke to James, he said his are the normal rear lights with the orange tops, which is the same as you have. Shame really, but not to worry.
