Didn't think they looked like the right thing but I'd never heard of them before so I didn't know any different! I'll message the seller and see if he can cancel the order or something, thanks for that Deathrow ;)

No worries mate, hope you can cancel.

I've only come across Torx bolts from my Corsa C days :), they're flaming rubbish anyway, god knows whos idea that was. I've had more Torx bolts round off on my Corsa than I've had regular 20 year old bolts round off on my Mini. Think that says it all .

Oh no!

Sorry theImage I feel so guilty, that'll teach me for looking round for people ;)

Looking at them now I can see the difference but the pic in the link I put up you couldnt see them very well but they said twist lock and I thought they were the right ones.

So sorry theImage :)

Bloody awful dull day on the mini today.. kicked off with dismal weather & then running straight into another brick wall with more rounded bolts on the rear subby, decided to leave it for now until I can get my hands on a set of 'twist lock sockets' which should hopefully solve my problem once and for all :closed:

& because I should be moving into the new garage soon I got the pressure washer out and gave the whole shell a good blast, getting rid of most of the grot & mud that had collected over the years, not much else apart from that I'm afraid  but my wheels are up for sale :) so buy them! :)

Hey mate, with regards to the rear subframe bolts that go into the rear heelboard.

Don't worry if they round off, its pretty common.

You can drill them out, and then re-tap the hole using a tap.

I'm pretty sure it's a 5/16 Thread with a 1/2 Head.

So you'll need a 5/16 tap to re-thread the hole you drill! And then get some nice shiney stainless steel 1/2 bolts with a 5/16 thread to go in there, with plenty of copper grease on them whenever you put the subframe back on.

This is what i've done, worked a treat.

dude, i rounded mine off. it turned out that the problem was i was using metric spanners. instead of AF ones. so in the end my dad had to cut the ends of the bolts off with a grinder. cant wait to see it as a shell

Keep it up. A few rounded bolts are fine, you will always get that. Just keep at it and things will get there, be careful not to snap the bolts though as that will be bad news

Can't begin to explain how grateful I feel towards my Dad & Mum for that matter.. new garage is perfect for carrying out my restoration work, dead happy ;D

The garage isn't finished quite yet, still some bits from the builders in the lower half & Dad needs to sort out Grandads bike, lawn mower etc.. And then shelving & cupboards will go up in various places so my mini bits won't be in a pile on the floor, get a kettle in there and a filthy calender ;)

It's amazing, with the shell on the dolly I can literally rotate her on the spot! clean, warm & plenty of light.. not bad ^_^

Next stop.. payday.. panels & get Ben over for some bodywork :ermm: :mrcool:

I have to second that, keep it tidy!

Working in a tidy garage is such a soothing thing for the mind. Working in a messy garage where you don't know where anything is makes you want to bite peoples heads off and use them as marakas.

Plus, I'm HUGELY jealous of how nice and big that garage is! Enjoy it chap ;D.
