Have those lips had any work done to them before? Or is it just a bit of surface rust?

They do look in good condition mind.

Might get away with just replacing the corners to be honest, the middle section seems to be in a good condition!

I wish Kurust would magic the whole shell >_< uncovered some nasty spots today.. doors are well past reskinning IMO, I'll get some pictures tomorrow and see what you lot think.

Think I'll end up with the shell on it's side and giving the underside a good going over, some horrible rust in the rear bins.. looks like a tricky place to repair.

I'm telling you, kurust will work! >_<.

If the shell is on it's side i'd imagine it would be easier to repair? Plus with the nice warm garage and a mate who welds, should be a piece of p**s lol!

Aye aye but it looks to be in the most inaccessible spot! I'm not leaving a mm of rust unaccounted for on this shell before I piece it back together, would be pointless! >_<

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Bottom of the rear bins on the inner sill?

You'll be able to get access to that with the outer sills removed, it's my next job on Elliot >_<. Not that I'm looking forward to it, haha.

Hi Mart!

1956 BSA Bantam 150cc
1956 Norton 50 350cc single
Hiding in the box is a Triumph Tiger Cub (year unknown at present)

All awaiting my time to restore them, will be a great job, looking forward to it. >_<

very nice projects indeed!!! good luck with the restoration! i'd love a competition bantam myself, but there's not many vintage british bikes here in Montreal!

(sorry for the thread hijack)

Just caught up with this thread since my last reply. Good to see you getting on with it!
SO jealous of your tidy garage, and comfy/warm looking floor.
Keep up the good work, and good luck with it all! >_<

BiggerImage, you have to sell me the numberplate off one of those old bikes! JCH 73.
My initials are JEH, so I could put a numberplate screw near the C to make an E !!!

Sorry matey but DVLC would not allow it even if I wanted to part with the reg no. Also was my Dad's bike so for sentimental :) reasons it will all original when restored.

Not much of an interestingly exciting post for an update, but the rear subby is stripped.. almost, little bits left like the exhaust hangers/rubbers etc.. :P reason this is a fast post & not containing any pictures is because we're leaving soon to pick the wheels up from Grandmas :)

Back to college tomorrow so progress will slow down a lot, last few months before Uni are really important.. I will however dedicate my Sunday to working on the mini :) but now because I've got a garage I can work at night! :) so any spare time I do get will be spent there :(

Right..

Update time :P

Near side radius arm off,
Posted Image

What's left.. mainly mud! subframe is in a remarkably good condition, really relieved,
Posted Image

Started to clean up, will be etched primed an painted black once done,
Posted Image

So the current mini-project is the radius arms & rear subby,
Posted Image

Plenty of space to work on it,
Posted Image

Oh and.. :(

I need new rear shocks & I'm also gonna upgrade to Minifins on the rear, already have Mini Sport Adjusta Rides from a previous owner so that's cool, will be given another lick of paint though.
