Pair of rear lowered GAZ shocks on the way :) can't afford the full set so when I get around to doing the front subby I'll order the front set then.

Went out for about half an hour, don't know why I bothered.. shattered from last nights antics, really short patience today.. so I gave up and came back in.

Can't remove the bloody screw from the drum.. any ideas how I can get this out? probably end up drilling it, but I don't want to do that..

wack it as hard as you can first, then stop the drum from turning (lever bar between the wheel studs) then use a normal screw driver if you don't have an impact driver and turn it as hard as you can. Keep pressure on the screwdriver to stop it from slipping, and hey presto :)

I'll give it another go on Sunday, problem isn't applying pressure.. the problem is that it's loosing it's shape, being rounded off..

its loosing its shape and being rounded off because there isn't enough pressure keeping the tip in the screw, causing it to round off. you really need to hit the screw head hard with a hammer, this will shock it and help release it. try and get a screwdriver that is a good fit because if its too small it will round.

Ah okay, cheers for that James, will eat my cornflakes Sunday morning and crack on.

Decided not to debumper her.. It'll be more expensive to fit her with bumpers & overriders, because I'll obviously need new ones and the panels for the rear & also some L brackets for the front. But I think the overall look will be better and suit the style more.. it'll help look her make lowered & wider.

Also been talking a mate about buying his twin HS2 carbs :) just need to sort a price out with him.

I agree with keeping the bumpers Image, without them Minis look much narrower in my opinion. I'll be fabricating some brackets for my front end so that I can put a bumper back on the front . Over riders should look sweet on your car too.

Would really suit the style! I think I've 100% made up my mind then, again

So I managed to get some progress done today, Sunday is always my mini day! I do need to start getting out into the garage earlier though.. but I got done what I wanted to do today, so no worries :)

Today consisted of continuing to strip down the rear subby, more specifically the radius arms.. had some problems with the handbrake quadrant pins but with a bit of persuasion from the angle grinder & WD40 they were soon free, but do need replacing now :)

Once they were stripped I got going with the wire brush on the plug in drill, more beefier than the cordless so it does a better job. Also cleaned up the 2 brackets which hold the arms onto the backplate & also the 2 rear subby mounting brackets, oh and the 2 small handbrake quadrants after straitening them out.

Next job, take apart both drum assemblies so I can wire brush the backs of them down & repaint them.. actually thinking about it I don't need to do that because I'm only painting the backs of them anyway.. so brush them down and carry on wire brushing down the rear subby.

I will be painting up the bits with Direct To Metal Satin Black, which should do the job nicely?

Pictures :)

All I can do for now until I get some money for panels :) hmm.. I've been searching through some threads and it sounds tricky, something about reaming?

Link.

Seen those kits, but yeah I've read about how I'd need to ream something out with a reaming tool..
