Id still get the lower dash rail cover put in as you wont be able to spot any blemishes whereas i expect it would be quite hard to get the rail looking perfectly smooth with just paint.

Complete change of plan, look a few pages back and you'll see the dashboard I'm going to make, It'll save me some pennies and because I'm swapping to an earlier Switch panel I will loose some switches, need somewhere for these to go so I'll have some toggle switches in the new flat dash.
Thanks again for today Luke, had a great day, and please thank your dad again for me please
James.
No worries James it was a good day!

Just uploading all my photos now.
Had a fantastic day at MITP with my Dad & James, bloke who was supposed to be selling me a rear roll cage with a fixed diagonal is a *melon*! name and shame, dave-r5, turns out even though we'd agreed on a price and agreed to meet he sold to someone else for higher.
I guess on the plus side it gave me some extra money to spend at the show so I picked up a turbo clutch plate, cam followers, oil pump, gearbox gasket set, oil switch & water temp switch! which means I can hopefully (if I haven't forgotten anything) get the engine put back together
I'll put a few photos up here of some inspirational photos, absolutely buzzing with some of the things I've seen today.
Check back shortly

I've been out & fitted the two new switches, oil pump & replaced my clutch with a turbo clutch, much more lighter when I was holding them both.
Water temp switch.
Oil switch.
Oil pump.
Clutch assembly apart.
Comparison of the two.
Old clutch, well worn!
New clutch, really glad I've replaced it!
Brushed off all the dust, did this outside.. don't worry, nasty stuff.
Back together and finger tightened, then put back on the crank, this makes sure everything is centralised before tightening fully.
Job done! hopefully when funds can afford I might be able to slide a cheeky lightened flywheel in there.
Now I need to learn about Cam followers and replace though so I can then put everything back together.

Thanks, I really enjoyed it too, and it will be interesting to see which cars are being driven to the show this time next year! Hopefully all 3 (well, 4 if you count the one you are going to win in the raffle)

It's really straight forward Carboy!
Your just saying that because you forgot arent you
Told you you were better off changing the clutch now!
Some nice little new bits on the engine make the world of different don't they! Looks tasty. Another few items to add to my list then

Received this in the post today from GM, It's a MK2 switch panel.
Fits quite comfortably, will get the two screw holes welded over and smoothed so it looks factory.
& something needs to be done with a tiny gap at the bottom, it's not really noticeable.. but it'd bug me that it was there.
Considering fitting an ignition switch to the centre switch as a toggle, any information on this? how would I go about wiring it?
Looks good
Hi, I have the following pics for you.
I have used custom brackets which are basically very short versions of the originals (originals in the photo).
You are very welcome to these brackets if you want them, but they do hold the switch panel out too far unless you use the padded rail.
Like you say, there is a gap underneath the panel and the screw heads show but I still quite like it.
Cheers, Luke
