would seem like a good rust prevention layer to have underneath the primer & paint.

I would have thought this too :D .

The red oxide I've applied in places is just applied over the original paint with no prep so the chances it's stuck properly are very slim. I'd rather so the extra work and be sure my paint job is stuck on :o.

Popped into Halfrauds today to check prices of primer, can get it waaay cheaper from Ebay, but I'll wait to see what MITP offers!

Also secured a rear roll cage with a diagonal from a chap off here, picking it up at MITP :P I don't think the paint is in that good of a state, but when Dad takes his classic motorbike frames to be sorted I'll send the roll cage off. Hopefully colour coded to match the shell >_<

I've no idea yet! I'm picking a roll cage up and the bloke said he'd be there pretty early, I'll speak with Dad tomorrow and let you know.

We'll be heading out your way? from Long Clawson/Melton way to get to MITP? If I remember last time we passed through your village.

ok, that suits me!
Yeah on the B6047 past the old airfield for about 7 miles to Twyford. Then on the same road untill you get to the texaco and McD on the roundabout, then turn left. I think thats the best way

Received this in the post today from GM, It's a MK2 switch panel.
Fits quite comfortably, will get the two screw holes welded over and smoothed so it looks factory.
& something needs to be done with a tiny gap at the bottom, it's not really noticeable.. but it'd bug me that it was there.

Considering fitting an ignition switch to the centre switch as a toggle, any information on this? how would I go about wiring it?

That looks smart :D

How does it fasten? seeing as you dont have those strange brackets the previous switch panel had...

It's also been pointed out to me that the switches are the wrong way round ;)

Hopefully be coming back from MITP with some bits and pieces :D

Thinking about it I'm sure them brackets are part of the hole either side for the choke and heater? Try taking the ones off your old one and putting them in as it will screw into them holes either side on the dash rail as that is how its mounted. Then the lower dash rail padding goes on so you cant see the gap or the backs of the switches.

I'm sure thats how it is and it doesnt sit flush, my one is mounted like that I think.

I'm getting rid of the lower dash rail padding all together! so instead of making my Mk5 sit flush I wanted something a bit more period to go there instead, which needs to sit flush, somehow :D

Ah okay,

Them brackets need to fit in on the sides to support the cables I think so maybe you could chop the brackets about and weld them after some head scratching so it makes the panel sit flush?
