My club are convoying it there from the same place we met you at, but were leaving about half 6

Will be a whole year since I managed to break my engine! :genius:

Well, once you've got a welder and some practice in, you'll be on a roll! :P

Half 6! no thanks :D

I feel like I've sort of peaked, it's all fairly downhill from here.. all the nasty rusty bits have been stripped and from now (apart from the bodywork) it'll be nice new shiny bits :P all assembled neatly, bolts applied with copper grease etc..

Bodywork is the next mission, but I'm so looking forward to taking my time with that

2 cans of U-POL etch primer have just arrived from the postie :genius:

You might find those two will do the whole car. I've been using one tin and the stuff just refuses to run out.

I sprayed the b-pillar :X don't really know why.. wasn't rusty and I was excited with my parcel so I thought why not, looks cool, can't wait to have the whole car covered in primer >_<

What's a good degreaser?

I hope you only feathered it on! Etch prime isn't supposed to cover, it just promotes adehsion for the primer >_<.

What purpose degreaser? If just for wiping down paint before priming, I use white spirit, seem to do an alright job. I shall be using proper panel wipe when i come to spraying the whole car though.

Ah.. I thought Etch Primer was the mother of all primers! so what primer would I be applying over the top?

Yeah just for cleaning up the area before applying primer, plenty of white spirit in the garage I think.

Nah, it shouldn't be used on it's own. Lightly haze etch on to bare metal only (it'll look like overspray) and then you use proper primer.

I've been etching my bare metal and over coating with red oxide, brushed on. However, I do intend to sand all of this off when I do my paint preperation. It's solely to make sure the car doesn't start rusting while I carry out all the repairs.

Yeah, white sprit on a paper towel, wipe and then wipe it off with a lint free cloth >_<.

I'll buy some proper primer as well then >_<

Are you sanding the red oxide off completely? or just so it's smooth? would seem like a good rust prevention layer to have underneath the primer & paint.

Thats filler primer, is that what you want, or do you just want normal primer?

Hmmph.. probably filler primer, if I did some repairs on the rear window lips then I'd apply a coat of filler to smooth things out and primer over the top.

I'd be best picking up a can of high build and a can of normal primer.
