One of our long term customers has just been in the shop here in Manchester, he owns a very nice orig 1971 1275GT in black which was absolutely mint! he came to collect parts he had ordered but informed us that he didn't need them now... he then produced his phone to show me why he didn't require the part!
Some ***holes thought it would be fun to turn his car over in the early hour, after rolling the car on its roof they cut the fuel pipe and yep...set it on fire! what on gods earth is wrong with these people. I am absolutely gutted for our customer and this was a lovely car that has been destroyed.

Just wanted to get this off my chest sorry for the rant.

I feel this is indicative of the way society is going, these scroats have no respect for anyone or anything, the seem to drift from one p1ssed up day to the next looking to cause grief purley for a buzz. God knows what this country will be like in 20 years time when these idiots have reproduced and are instilling thier lack of values into their offspring.

Last normal person to leave the country please turn the lights out, I am off!

I have seriously considered moving to Australia for this very reason. Im only 17 and cant believe why these mindless people do such horrific things for absolutely NO reason.

I'm still in disbelief at the whole thing really, why pick on that car out of a whole street? Similar horrible things were happening in my parent's quiet village recently. It turned out some local yobs had found out there was an old guy living in the village, who was on the sex offenders register..... so they went round burning all the cars of people who looked like him

Well, we never worked out why the little darlings torched my panda 4x4 either. > Maybe they pick on what they consider to be the oldest or the least likely to have an alarm that might alert unwanted attention?

I think it might be down to the fact that minis (& Pandas etc) are not what the chavtastic population like, they do not carry the same panache as a well sorted saxo or something equally *******. Therefore they revert to type and smash/break/ruin anything thats is different to their perceived norm.

This is exactly the same mentality as the numbskulls who kicked the young girl (a goth) to death in a park in Lancashire. She and her boyfriend were set upon purely for not being chavs and the d1ckwads ended up killing her and nearlly killing her boyfried. At least those neandthals got life.

i hate "chavs" they give anyone under the age of 18 a bad look because the cant behave and they cant drive, their prattish time waisters who have no life whatsoever. i mean they go around drinking, smoking and having s*x underage and generally talking like pratts. and if you disagree with anything they say or point out if theyre wrong you either get punched to oblivion or have a fag shoved in your eye. i mean why set a minter clubby on fire, just because it is better than your cheap autotrader pile of C**p with a badly fitted bodykit on it doesnt mean you should destroy it. i mean hey why not just set your chavmobile on fire.. it will be one less earache with your massive exhaust for all of us and might be of more use.

Blimey o reilly thats bad I must admit, I find Stockport actually worse than manchester - I've lived in various bit of manc for 16 years (moss side, fallowfield, didsbury, withington, chorlton) and not had one car broken in to. I've parked in Stockport probably 5 or 6 times and had 2 cars broken into and trashed.... one of those I even got a parking ticket for going over my time while I walked to the police station to report it
Feel gutted for the bloke I really do - sure a few of us locals can chip in a few parts if he can get another shell ??

my mini generally only goes out at weekends and is not left anywhere,other than halfords car park e.t.c for 10 minutes at a time,its got to the stage now that i have to keep nipping to the front of the shop to see if its ok,even in the middle of the day,when i get home it goes straight in the garage out of site,i mean what the hell,youve worked hard money/sweat / tears for your pride and joy,why shouldnt you take it out and show of your hard work and enjoy it,answer,because some chav will come along and take it all away,as we have seen in this thread,and the worst part,the police and /or authorities seem unable to tackle the problem or dish out suitable punishment!

I'm exactly the same with my car, I never leave it anywhere for longer than I absolutely have to, and even then I try to make sure its in my sight wherever possible.

The problem is that it shouldn't have to be like that! I agree with all of the posts above regarding the state of our country but the sad thing is there is no one who has the necessary authority that is willing to do anything about it.

I'm absolutely gutted for the guy with the GT, I can't imagine waking up and seeing your car like that, but I do have an idea of how he must be feeling as a similar thing happened to my fiancee's car 18 months ago. I also have an idea of what he wants to do to the little shites who did it!

I completely agree with all but one point here. These little sh*ts are already reproducing as they can they get a house.

Its an absolute disgrace. You really have to wonder about the parents.

You can also guarantee that if he caught them and smacked one of them, he would be in a cell faster than you can plead your case while the little buggers are awrded comnpensation for their suffering.

I hate the fact that I have to hide everything I own so I dont loose it. It really bugs me and I do it but begrudgingly. When I bought my first car I bought a Astra SRI. My Dad had a moan at me because it stood out. He said it was just going to get nicked, and you know what? He was right. Stolen and recovered 6 times in a year and a half!

But the thought of not buying something because I am affraid its going to get stolen also bug me. I really can not stand the thought that I would miss out on having something I want not because I cant afford it, but just for the reason that I would be affraid of it getting stolen.

And as for Australia, they dont exactlly have a non existant crime rate. Destuction of property and theft still happen there! Granted its possible that this country is a little worse for it. Find a country with a low crime rate, for example Finland. I have spend a bit of time there recently and there crime rate has only started to go up a little now because they have more torrists.

this is my problem, just because were young.. and some pillocks cant behave we get stupidly high insurance premiums because chavs cant drive! and you cant leave a car in halfords without crapping yourself scared it will get vandalised. so for example when we nipped into halfords in the e type! (yes you can sense the irony) we had to be in and out as quickly as possible. and most people know that chavs live in halfords, and most there cars look like theyv driven through halfords!
