My Dad had a moan at me because it stood out. He said it was just going to get nicked,
This is exactly the thing i am talking about. its typical of the defeatist to tell you that you cannot have/do/own something for fear of criminal attack of some sort. rather than indulge in the things they have worked hard for and so rightly deserve, they insted anticipate some hassle and automatically avoid it altogether. this is the attitude of those who have already given up, accepted that things are the way they are, and resign themselves to not having things that they want in life. i would say why not clamp down on the people who choose to commit these crimes rather than punish oneself?
in a way, it is this very attitude which accomodates the criminal and perpetuates his behavior. therefore it is partly responsible for the situation we find ourselves in now.
It's the minority of younger people that act like complete
i would question that. is it really such a small minority? to be honest, the vast majority of young kids i know around my area are shockingly behaved. a well behaved child is quite a rare anomaly. ask any school teacher. also think about the average age of people who have ASBO's, the average age of people in prison. there are nearly as many young persons prisons/detention centres as there are adult prisons in the UK and there are more teen gangs in england than anywhere else in europe. think about all the undesireable 'chavs' you see loitering in the streets everywhere , outside shops, and in other public places; i dont think they are in the minority atall. unfortunately they do drag the good youngsters down with them, but the sooner the intelligent sensible public straps on a pair and deals with these baboons, the better for everyone. if that entails what may be considered harsh methods of punishment, then so be it.
