but...
its the fact that every... single... lorry that causes me being late too work... is....
You guess it! A TESCO LORRY!

I used to do a similar journey, tedious but I don't mind that much as I know it is a lorry and know that it can only go that fast.

What does really wind me up are the slow car drivers...

But anyway, not wishing to point out the blindingly obvious, perhaps if you left for work 10 minutes earlier.......?

I worked out that if I left 10 minutes earlier I would be in front of a similar regular lorry and in front of a lot of the cars too. 10 minutes made a big difference to the amount of traffic on the road in the morning.

oh I don't drive an artic or work for Tesco's but I do drive a luton, so I also get car drivers hooting at me when I'm in my I must abide by the law mode lol

Your also notice more and more lorries on the motorway are now being restricted to 50mph and a lot of this is due to the rising fuel costs

Is it right that Tesco track their lorries and penalise any drivers breaking speed limits? Or is that a general thing that most lorry firms do?

Im sure i read in a FTA article that tesco had limited there vehicles to less then the 56mph. Either 50 or 52mph if i recall in aid to lower co2 gases and help the environment.

I grew up with my dad driving trucks, so i respect them on the roads and give them the access, turning area and over taking gap they need. Keep your distance from them and you'll be fine.

Maybe you should set off to work eariler and then going slower wont effect you ;)

But isn't the tacho just a record saying "Left at 10am, arrived at 11:03am"? I was unreliably informed that Tesco actually track speeds and possibly positions.

Tachograph records distance, speed, start location, end location, breaks, periods of rest/loading/unloading, driver details, vehicle details.

Its pretty standard in the haulage industry for firms to crack down on employees who exceed speed limits etc.

The reason for this is because the haulage firms are responsible for their drivers, and could face loosing their O license's

Ah, I see. The way this person said it made it seem like it was a one off by Tesco.

One of my sister-in-law's Dad's works for Tesco driving lorries.... He says the lorries are restricted and permanently tracked, so it really isn't their fault at all.

Think of these guys just doing their job! If it wasn't for them we wouldn't have fresh food when ever we fancy or need something 24 hours a day!!
