Na, I think the Kia is a much nicer looking car myself :)

Lol, anyways nice looking build! I'm in Bristol too, well near. Where abouts are you (just being nosey really haha!). And where did you find a Mini in a scrappy a couple of months ago? I was looking for ever and a day last year and only found the most rusted out shed ever (which I now race  ).

Good luck with the rest! I'll be looking for the updates!

Hi Bean, I dont think the S3 was there when you came over. I had a bump in it a couple months ago and was being repaired - I think that might have been the week when you came over... You're more than welcome to pop back and have a look! :)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With regard to the Mini in the scrappy, it was somewhere just outside of Bristol on the A38. You go out through Almondsbury and carry on for about half an hour and its just there on the right... We are in Stoke Gifford - near to the Parkway railway station.

Thanks for all the great comments!! :w00t:

hello fellow enthusiasts...

following a week of discussions with my mate Si, we have come to a decision of the power unit for the Domino. We have selected a mildly tuned 998cc engine from our stock (!!) and this will be mated with a Eaton M45 Supercharger that was won on eBay last night. We plan to use a Vmax Scart kit to fit it to the engine. Looking at the figures we estimate that it should produce a healthy 80-90bhp.

>_<

i also have a "slight" weight advantage, as a Domino weighs in at just under the 600 kilo mark!!!

:) :)

Following a recent session of bedtime reading of a book that we will refer to as the "yellow bible" (no religious content or phone numbers for numerious businesses in the local area) it was decided that the 998 block selected to spend the rest of its working life in the Domino will benefit greatly from having a 12G295 Cooper head bolted to it - along with the Eaton M45 Supercharger firmly strapped to it (yes, the Eaton has arrived and has pride of place on the kitchen worksurface!).

So a lengthly search of eBay was carried out in order to find a suitable 12G295 head. After losing 2 auctions (one sat outside Trego Mills in a carpark) we found a auction that had ended with no bids. After contacting the seller to find out if he was relisting the head or indeed still willing to sell it, we received a response with the good news. This was last Saturday. A marathon journey was then required in order to go and collect it on Sunday from Bristol to Stafford and the grand sum of 25 hard earned English pounds was handed over. Grin factor 10!!

Since Sunday the head has been fully stripped on the bench and is now awaiting degreasing to clean it up...

Another development has been the arrival of our samples of material which will be used to create the custom, one-off interior. Just a reminder, this is the panel that we have created for the sides:

And here is the material that I have selected to cover the sides in. I wanted to be as sympathetic towards the donor car used to build the Domino and have selected a pattern that closely represents the original interior:

And thats it for now. Have been working on a few other bits and bobs around the car too. I would be keen to know what your thoughts are...

one other thing that we forgot to mention in our last update is that we have removed the subframes and turned the shell upside down again so that the bottom could be schutz'ed and the engine bay painting. then we can install the brake and fuel lines before turning the shell back over and refitting the subframes for the last time.

more pics to follow!

Looking very smart - nice to see another Domino round here!
I like the way you're lining the inside - I've still got to figure out what to do in the back of my HT.

And a supercharged engine! This thing's going to fly! :D
