I think that may be the last fiddley bit. I'm going to go down to the garage soon...finish off that repair... then take another good look round the shell.

I think I'll be ready to order up some big panels by the end of the week (fingers crossed!). If so, then I'll have to get thinking what I'm going to cut out first. I have some ideas... but I need to be sure that I'm doing things in the best possible order to make life easy for myself.

Rough list of bodywork (from memory) is:

- Lower half of rear panel
- Boot floor/rear seat base
- Wheel arches (possibly)
- Heel panel (possibly)
- Lower portion of rear quarter panel (both sides)
- Inner Sills
- Outer sills
- Door Step
- Repairs to front floor pan (both sides)
- Repairs to toe board
- Repair to top of front bulkhead
- Top dash rail
- Scuttle
- Inner A-Panels
- Outer A-Panels
- O/S Inner Wing
- Two wings
- New front panel

I think I remember having a good look at the shell and found that every panel needs attention with exception of the rear bulkhead. That's from memory... there could possibly be more work to do!

I'm back at work now :D so no progress on weekdays. I've been repairing and re-skinning a few doors to make a little ££ to help out with funding this project.

There isn't really much more I can do until I order my panels, which I intend to do when I next get paid (23rd).

My panel order is going to consist of:

- Heritage complete rear panel with Mk1 rear lights..
- Heritage complete boot floor/rear seat..
- Two heritage arches..
- Two "rear quarter panel rear of the wheel arch repair panels!" (don't know the proper name and can't see the panel on Minispares, I know that M-Machine sell them though).
- Front of rear wheel arch closing panel for each side..
- Long closing panel both sides.

That's all one excuse, the other is that it's cold and I haven't got a heater in the garage so it's freezing!

- Heritage complete rear panel with Mk1 rear lights/ surly if you get this you have to use a mk3 rear window and lose the smaller rear mk1 window???

Nah, you could cut it at the waist before the window.

Yeah I wouldn't want to lose my Mk1 window. I need the full panel because the rear panel has rusted out higher than the waist line by the pillars. I'm going to have to do a bit of tricky cutting which will be annoying, but I'm sure I'll be able to make it work.

Better watch...You'll be getting people asking you to restore their cars. Great to see such quality workmanship - a real joy to watch!

I wish I had the space for all these tools, MIG and compressor especially.
One day i will!

That really is a great project. Its going to end up looking better than the day it was built!

All the best with it :D

I've finally got round to ordering a few of the panels that I need.

Posted Image

It's looking like a serious wallet bashing just for only a few of the panels that I need :P The Mk3 door skins and vacuum bits are for a different Mini. I would normally order from MiniSpares, but with Moss offering 10% TMF+ discount and free delivery it works out cheaper by a long way. I've previously always avoided Moss as I've always considered them a little over-priced.
