ermm no, we're trying to find out if there is any truth in the story that the bloke we bought them off told us.....
apparently waynes pickup used to belong to a company that rented out cars long term and this one was rented to john bonham. but it may just be a story we'll have to see, if it turns out to be true i might just pinch it!

Bit of an update for you guys,.. Giz has now pretty much finished the floor of Waynes Pick-up, so that's all nicely welded and undersealed up etc.. just need to jiggle the holes the rear subframe lines up to, and it'll be a nice easy fit ;)

And Painted up the 998 engine, plus fitted some ancilleries (note the elcheapo 'leccy 'nition set-up!) Looks good eh

should be able to start work on Giz's pick-up soonish....

Wayne123 Giz and Retro (me!) pulled the 998 engine out Giz's pick-up last week... was a wee bit heavy and the alternator took some jiggery to get it past the slam panel,.. but it's out!!

Posted Image

I took the head off to inspect it,.. and on first inspection it looked like all the valves where shot to pieces along with the pistons, however!.. it's amazing really,.. it was all coke, the engine was absolutely jam packed full of coke and burnt oil,..

Basically needs a re-bore and the head needs a rebuild too,.. other than that, i guess it's ok really, whether the engine will be re-used or not we just don't know, I might have it off him but don't know if i want to take it on yet. probably not

Giz has now Welded the front valance (off my old mini) onto his pick-up and tidied up the engine bay and painted it (i'll get some piccies of that today, it's really coming on nicely.

Wayne has ordered some really sexy panels for his scab, rustbucket, STD, pick-up shaped thing :D complete new sides for it, be fun welding them on but it will really be a massive part of waynes project to forget about after they're on. the sides are shocking :D

Pics to come.....

well..... it's been a pretty productive couple of weeks,
firstly waynes pickup is slowly taking shape and then losing it's shape as we progress! we have fitted door steps to both sides, one side has now got an inner a pannel and whole new rear side. the other side has today been hacked off and the good news is wayne still has all of his fingers.

my pickup has been stripped of it's front subframe which has been cleaned, painted and is now ready to be rebuilt, i took a trip to min-its this afternoon and bought new rebound buffers, bottom arm bushes, tie rod bushes, cv boots and steering rack gaitors. i'm taking a few bits and pieces to work with me to chuck in the shot blaster such as bottom arms etc.

pictures....

here is waynes new rear

I have more pictures of waynes mini but you get the general idea of what's going on with it anyway from Giz's pics.

Long way to go get yet chaps but we're getting there :) And i think you'll find,.. on a long and lost post that i did reveal what engine i was having built up (that is now going in this pick-up),.. however the post got closed,.. and with that,... so were the clues.

It's a fantastic engine on paper!

Oh and i have a flux capacitor for your pick-up, Giz.

P.S> forecast heavy rain for tonight and gusty winds,.. lets hope waynes doesn't dissovle or blow away. >_< :D :)
