Airbags, are they that much safer?

I think I would rather have a bag of air hit my face then a steering wheel and steering column.

this made me feel sick. the boyfriend is a policeman and used to work at a recovery garage, hes seen some sights and told me ALL about it, but to actually see a photo, god.

I wouldnt of thought even a airbag would of saved a life in this one

i dnt tink much would of saved a live in this case..unless the other driver wasnt actually on teh road

thats a perfectly understandable view, and I feel for you. however, another way of thinking about it is the old 'I could get run over by a bus tomorrow!'. sometimes I feel a bit less seecure than when im in my ladies modern car, or driving a big van, but then i remind myself that im quite often walking or on my bike, with even less crash protection!

:)

Am I the only one that feels there is far too much emphasis on Euro NCAP ratings? Some people think that a 5 star rating means that the car is very safe. It really doesn't, you're still driving around in a box with the potential to quite easily kill yourself and others. Not having a go at anyone personally, but if you’re worried that you might die in a car then maybe you should just not drive at all.

Hm, I suppose. It's not the ncap I was paying attention to really, it's just the fact the risk of injury is higher in a mini than say, a modern crappy little fiesta or something. I'll just make sure my driving is good enough to avoid all that :)

yeh teh ncap thing is overated..but if u look at renault clio sport that thing didnt have a rating at all an thts a relatively new car so it jus goes to show no matter what decade we are in there will be some cars that seen as unsafer than others.

I agree, live each day like its your last (its just that it might well be if you have a crash in your mini with another maniac!).

If only they outlawed all other cars except minis, the roads would be so much safer (and beautiful!!)

i think to maybe ease everyone back into thier cars again... we should remember that the MINI has excellent handling , nippy , reasonable brakes and to be honest , not that fast so it has very good proactive saftey qualitys already , if you can steer away from a crash all the better , i had a bad crash in a ford galaxy was nearly written off by a peugeot 206 .

but instead of looking at road crashes look at rally mini crashes, yeah they have roll bars but are generally going much quicker than we would.
as some one said earlier we could all die by some freak accident one day so drive your car, if you do truly cherish your car then when you drive it you would do anything to avoid an accident .
