Al, About rust... Can you give me advice on which the cheapest and best way to deal with it is please?... If its only bubbles shall i wirebrush it off, put rust eating formulae on and then fill and spray?.... or shall i replace panels and save up all my pennies for a full bare shell respray?

The ONLY way to be sure of getting rid of rust is to cut it out.

yup. I learnt this too. Rubbing down and filler gets u no further. Replace panels and rust with fresh metal and welds.

The ONLY definite way of getting rid of rust for good is to buy a fibreglass shell!! MMMMMM!

Hey Youngun definitely replace the panels if you can afford it... if not hitting the rusty spot with a sandblaster to get rid of the rust will eliminate it completely... other than that there isn't much else you can do if you don't want it coming back again.

Well yesterday I got the radius arms, and drum backing plates all cleaned up and reassembled.... also got the rear subframe on, and the hilo's on the front subframe..... today I'm mounting the front subframe onto the car, fitting the radius arms to the rear sub along with the hilo setup. then I'll start rebuilding the brakes and running all the lines..... then the motor goes in! I can't wait.
heres another update.... a guy is coming over today at about noon to buy my 68 Beetle off me for $1900 so thats more cash for Rusty...... I have lots to buy but these just came up for sale, sparco seats, harnesses, custom 4 piece cage all for just over $1000.... thats a sweet deal cause i priced out racing seats and they were gonna cost about $900-$1000 for just the two seats. what do yuo think of this set up from the pics? If i get it I think I'll add door bars too.

Can't change a name.... It was the original name so it's stuck with it now. .... and that's final, not open for discussion. I've had ALOT of people say that to me already.... but this particular 1973 Mini will always be "Rusty" to me.just one question why is the cars name still rusty wen thers no rust....... thats gorgeous!!!! the rollcage !!!! WOW
And yeah I was planning on painting it up.... probally the same white the rest of the car is.... or maybe black.

well guys the bootlid is fitted... but not closing properly any help with this would be great.... i fitted the new rubber seal and now can't get it closed!... it seems likt the lid has to come up ALOT. problem is it seemed to fit OK before i fitted the rubber. It's peeing me of kinda so please help me!
Right now the rear subframe including radius arms and hi-los have been fitted and the back end is sitting on the wheels now.... looks well cool  . As for the front, the subframe is back in with hi-los, the shocks are fitted, and now I'm just cleaning up the lower control arm before I finish assembling that. then I'll keep myself busy with wheel bearings, brakes, brake lines, master cylinder rebuild, fuel tank, fuel lines, clutch cylinder rebuild, pedal box, motor, interior, glass....... then driving it!
